Disability Pride Month is described by Ameridisability as an opportunity to “accept and honour each person’s uniqueness” and “promote visibility and mainstream awareness” of positive pride felt by people with disabilities. This month acts as a celebration of the disabled community.
This does not, however, gloss over the multiplicity and complicated nature of the systemic ableism and discrimination disabled and deaf people face.
It is also important to consider that each person's experience of disability is different, and that each person will have an individual conception of disability identity and notions of pride associated with this.

It's international day against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia, with this year's theme as ‘Our Bodies, Our Lives, Our Rights’. The date was specifically chosen to commemorate the World Health Organization’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder. This day aims to celebrate sexual and gender diversity, and campaign against the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTQ+ people internationally and on a daily basis.
A selection of our articles on gender and sexuality include:
Toze, M., 2021. DOI: /10.18573/ipics.37
McDonald, A.A., 2021. DOI: /10.18573/ipics.40

It's women's history month! Women's history month is a month to honour women's often-overlooked contributions to history and contemporary society and encourage people to study, observe, and celebrate women's achievements.
The month also poses as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender equality.
A few of our articles related to women's rights, feminism, and the portrayal of women in literature and culture include:

Introducing our 2022 Edition Editorial Team!
Editor in chief: Arwa (she/her) is our editor in chief and a PhD candidate in Critical and Cultural theory at Cardiff University, where she is researching metamodernism and feminine subjectivity in British women’s writing. She obtained her MA in English Literature with a concentration in Women & Gender Studies from Rutgers University. Her research takes into consideration the intersections of marginal positions in literary and cultural expressions.
Deputy editor: Morgan (she/her) is our deputy editor and a first year PhD Student at Cardiff University. She holds a BA and MA in English Literature from Aberystwyth University and Cardiff University, respectively. Her research interests surround ghosts and spectrality within literature. Morgan is currently working on her PhD thesis which is examining Alfred Lord Tennyson’s relationship with the dead and their return, including Tennyson’s own memorialisation in cultural memory and subsequent return in text and images.
Associate editor: Beth (she/her) is an associate editor and a third-year doctoral student in English Literature and Visual Culture at Cardiff University and the University of Exeter, funded by the AHRC. Her research project extends current work on the ethical possibilities of intermediality (the integration of various media), examining a contemporary archive of women and conflict, and focusing on how intermediality effects representations of gender, race, the self and the other. Beth is also Co-Chair of “Intersec+ions” (@CDF_Intersct on twitter), an interdisciplinary, student-led research network exploring the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, (dis)ability, neurodiversity, and more, in culture and society.
