For Nora, Ahana House is more than just a place to live, it’s a place for her to heal, rebuild, and feel like she belongs. After years of instability, including time spent in foster care, emergency shelters, and a drug dependency, Nora made the courageous decision to seek help and begin her recovery journey. When she moved into IPH’s Ahana House, she was facing significant health challenges and in need of stability, care, and community. Through her own determination, and the partnership of our staff and her fellow residents, Nora has been able to focus on her health, regain strength, and move forward with hope. Today, Nora describes herself as happy, healthy, and surrounded by people who feel like family. She credits the caring community at Ahana House with helping her rediscover her sense of self-worth and belonging. At IPH, we believe everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Ahana House provides 17 adults leaving homelessness and living with a chronic health condition with a place to live in Waterford, NY. Tenants receive person-centered and wellness-focused support including care coordination, medication management, and assistance with daily living activities.

As winter comes to an end, so does another season of shelter at IPH’s Safe Haven and Danielle’s House. Together, these shelters provided warmth, safety, and care to more than 435 neighbors during one of the harshest winters in recent memory, offering refuge from the cold along with connection, compassion, and support. While winter has ended, homelessness has not. Many of the people who stayed at Safe Haven will continue turning to IPH for meals, clean clothing, showers, and case management at our Community Connections drop-in center. We’re also celebrating next steps and new beginnings. In Amsterdam, several guests are transitioning into permanent housing with IPH, and our Danielle’s House team is continuing to work alongside those who haven’t found apartments to identify housing opportunities. This is what community looks like: showing up, season after season, with care, partnership, and a commitment to finding lasting solutions.

🌷Wishing you peace this Mother's Day🌷 To the moms, grandmothers, stepmoms, foster moms, chosen moms, and mother figures, we're thinking of you and the care you show every day. We also know today isn't easy for everyone and we're holding space for those missing their mom, those navigating complicated relationships, those who grew up without a mom, and those who hope to become mothers. At IPH, we see the many ways love shows up through family, community, and chosen support systems. However today feels for you, you're not alone. 💙

A $20,000 investment is helping create more than just housing, it's creating space for connection, comfort, and new beginnings. Thanks to the support of @sidneyfcu , Danielle's House in Amsterdam is getting some important upgrades to shared living spaces and expanding to include an additional permanent supportive housing unit. It's an incredible example of what's possible when our community comes together to support our neighbors leaving homelessness. Stories like this are happening every day and we'd love to keep you in the loop. 👉 Visit the link in our bio to sign Up to receive our emails so you don't miss what's next.

Doing some spring cleaning? Give your “donate” pile a new life at IPH’s Clothing Pantry. Each year, we give out over $100,000 worth of clothing to neighbors facing homelessness and as the seasons change, so do the items we need most. We’re currently running low on new underwear and socks, shoes, jeans and sweatpants, t-shirts, light jackets, belts, hats, backpacks, and towels. Every item shared is an act of care that ensures every person has access to clean, comfortable, and seasonally appropriate clothing. Donations can be dropped off at Community Connections (315 Sheridan Avenue in Albany), Monday-Friday from 9AM-3PM. Call ahead to let us know you’re stopping by – (518) 694-8899.

This Earth Day, we’re celebrating the power of collective action! 🌎 Earlier this season, IPH staff came together with community partners to help clean and care for the Sheridan Hollow neighborhood which is home to our Community Connections drop-in center, Sheridan House, Safe Haven, and many of our supportive housing units. In Amsterdam, the Danielle's House team was hard at work cleaning up too! Caring for our environment is one more way we show up for our neighbors. When we invest in shared spaces, we help create communities rooted in dignity, pride, and belonging.
