You may never have known it. Maybe I should’ve said it more. But you always were deeply inspiring to me brother. Seeing your veracity and passion in competition, seeing your humility and care after absolutely dominating in anything you did. How you truly lived in the present and squeezed every ounce out of life. The way you deeply engaged in every single conversation you had, immersing yourself in interest for someone else. You achieved wonders and always said “it’s all God I just get to enjoy his blessings”. Love you brother. I’m gonna give you the HARDEST hug when I meet you at the pearly gates man. I wish you had more years, but I’m sure once I reach the other side I’ll realize you getting your reward earlier is only a good thing. We will go on more adventures, live more intentionally, and as you said it so well. We will take the time.
One simple element we add to classes, the Chameleon Target system by @trexarms - by simply adding the element of truly unpredictable PID, akin to real life, the student has to try and execute the drill but with the added mental load of trying to make sure they positively identify the target.
In this case a simple, get behind cover, brace, and shoot at mid distances becomes more complex as they have to balance the fundamentals of practical shooting with PID and finding an open lane of fire.

Absolutely top notch Performance EDC class this last weekend. Everyone came with their A game and had a great day! Pistol/rifle fundamentals is booked but Tacmed and Pistol/Rifle advanced is still open as well as the ever exiting VCQB!
Hats off to the shooters today at the @iron.plains.training EDC Course. Excellent work by those taking the class an @ip.ross for leading the program! #edc #training #community Get at me if I missed the tags! Photo creds to @tag_gedphotos
TFP care under fire earlier this year: it was an absolute riot, whole morning of medical care and fundamentals coupled with an afternoon of sprinting shooting bleeding and screaming. I often don’t think students realize what they’re capable of until pushed. Looking forward to 2026.
My current favorite self test. The 3 second ladder. 3 rounds from concealment, par time 3 seconds, no misses. If you pass add 5 yards and do it again. Rinse/repeat until you go over par or miss. Personal PR: over par at 45 yards.
In the business of self defense, it’s cut and dry. An instructor once told me “you never know when your deathmatch will be”. You can either train, or you’ll die.
@theflatlandproject - building blocks are essential. Foundational principles of safety then stack into efficient manipulations and speed/accuracy on targets. Once those principles are established we can then add more layers to the cake and stress test decision making and create parking spots in our minds for what we should look for and do. Add working around cars, people, walls and doors, night and day, all of it. Building a basic target shooter into a confident human capable of responding to extremely dire circumstances. MIL, LEO, CIV, the goal is the same, train hard and survive.
