I wrote SUPERMASSIVE in the last week of December 2024 through the first two weeks of January 2025, on the floor of my living room next to my dying dog. The album itself is sort of an ode to him, along with the experiences in life that have led me here today.
The last few months of 2024 really strained me, my creativity, my family, and my friendships as I encountered many struggles that felt like they were piling up on me, with no end in sight. The worst of all, learning that my best friend, the dog mentioned before, was diagnosed with a degenerative neurological disease that would rapidly paralyze him.
As I watched him fade beside me each night, I felt the need to release my sadness, frustrations, anger, and loss into what is now known as SUPERMASSIVE.
At a time where I thought I couldn’t reach the surface, I immersed myself in making music to express the onslaught of emotions that I was having.
The album was finished as I said goodbye to my longtime companion. It felt like the book was closing, finality. It’s been hard to come to terms with his death, but this whole experience was one that needed to happen, and it’s one that I will forever hold close to my heart.
