🍾 Supernova House 🍾 in #LeamingtonSpa, starting on site this month... 🚧reworking the existing footprint to create a light-filled, social heart of the family home.
.
A bright new kitchen, with secret walk-in pantry, flows into a split-level dining space and cosy snug, designed for everyday living and entertaining.
.
The compact extension infill also creates a flexible zone for a Peloton bike, blending wellbeing, comfort, and modern family life.
.
Finishes draw upon modern and classic textures, balancing a warm and luxury feel with a bigger volume of space whilst working with the existing home.
.
Our team has worked on this from conception through planning approval, interior design, and detail construction.. looking forward to the next stage on site ✨

Chromatica House od britského studia Intervention Architecture pracuje s barvou jako se základní součástí prostoru. Rekonstrukce a přístavba řadového domu v Bournville u Birminghamu otevřela dispozici směrem do zahrady a do středu domu přivedla víc světla. Nově tu vznikla rodinná kuchyně s jídelnou, pracovna, zóna pro hraní i další zázemí pro každodenní provoz. Velká okna propojují dům se zahradou a zároveň pomáhají dostat denní světlo hlouběji do půdorysu.
Nejvýraznější roli tu ale hraje výše zmiňovaná barevnost. Místo neutrálního pozadí architekti pracovali s teplou, sytou paletou, která jednotlivé plochy aktivuje a přesně vymezuje. Terakotová a světle modrá kuchyně, pruhovaná podlaha, modrozelená koupelna, růžové schodiště nebo niky v jasných odstínech skládají interiér, který působí hravě a promyšleně.

🌷 MAYAR’S SQUARE 🌷
.
Over the past year, Intervention Architecture has worked voluntarily alongside Mayar Yahia’s family, friends, her school, local agencies, and the wider Highgate community to help shape a response grounded in care, remembrance and meaningful change.
This collective effort follows the devastating events of April 2024, when 4year old Mayar was killed while walking home along the pavement on Upper Highgate Street with her family and friends. Upper Highgate Street has long been known locally as a hotspot for dangerous driving and speeding, and Mayar’s death brought urgent clarity to the need for action, highlighting the responsibility of Birmingham City Council to intervene and prevent further tragedy.
Throughout this process, our thoughts have remained with Mayar’s parents, siblings, and all her family and friends, whose loss continues to guide the purpose and sensitivity of this work.
In response, the Highgate community came together with advocacy organisations to create a lasting and meaningful memorial. Through open dialogue, workshops, and community-led days, a shared vision emerged: to transform part of the street into Mayar Square, a pedestrianised space that prioritises safety, community life, and remembrance.
Mayar Square is not only a response to loss, but a collective commitment to change, ensuring that Mayar’s memory is honoured through a safer, more compassionate Highgate shaped by and for its community.

Chromatica House - post 2: ancillary zones in the home can be celebrated as spaces in their own right, not just walk-through..
.
Mint green contrasting with pink for cloaks - and further pops of pale blue mixed with vibrant blue in the Wc- referenced again in the music niche !

Overall creating an engaging series of spaces which are unique but also interconnect holistically 🩷💙🩵🧡

Chromatica House - A colour filled recently completed project for a semi-detached home refurbishment and extension in #Bournville, #Birmingham ⛱️.
.
A warm and saturated palette, with a terracotta and baby-blue kitchen contrasted with ochre and white striped arrangement floor tiling, blue/green shower-room, brighter pink stairway; to create a striking balance between joinery and architecture.
.
Tonal variation of the cabinets and wall colours with the sugar-pink snug, and bright blue record playing niche, enable a colour blocking series of vignettes, with shifts in hues.
Overall our intent was to be playful and use colour as a tool to shape perception of the space, giving distinctive zoning to uses, and evoke happiness through design.

Promoting relaxed socialising and play in inner city Birmingham, particularly for women and girls
SLOW PLAY by @InterventionArchitecture , @_parakeet_studio & @oobe_landscape

This proposal addresses the issue of council provision for teenagers being dominated by activity-led typologies. Around 90% of it is MUGAs, skateparks and BMX facilities, with the majority of users being boys and young men. There has also been a lot of discussion across the UK around the design of the everyday public realm in shaping comfort, visibility and belonging.
Where deprivation and under-investment in public realm intersect, young people, (particularly girls), can find it difficult to find places to gather, linger and play. The weather is very much an issue as current provision of space tends to consist of hard landscapes without shelter, canopy or comfortable places to sit. These are not suitable for year-round use.
The proposal sought to provide an inclusive place to socialise and engage in more contemplative forms of play. The landscape design principles are based within Druids Heath, one of Birmingham’s most deprived neighbourhoods in a city with one of the youngest populations in Europe. Entitled Platform, the response is a soft, sheltered, biodiverse layer intended to be used alongside existing facilities.
Not only does it support inclusive, restful, slow play, it encourages social gathering and connection with nature within this particular location.
