A little news šŸ‘€šŸ“– Ornament is not a crime. It’s a fundamental part of our nature as human beings. So why is it missing from so much of our contemporary design and architecture? I’ve devoted my life pretty much to finding out…..and what I’ve learned so far can - and now will!! - fill a book. I’m so excited to finally share with you all that I’m working with the Roval Institute of British Architects @riba on a big ol’ book on ornament and architecture!!! We’ve come a long way from that first video that caused such hoopla but the theory hasn’t changed all that much, it’s just grown! Thank you to everyone who’s been along for this ride so far. I can’t wait to see everything we’ll continue learning about togetherā¤ļø #author #book #ornament #arthistory #decolonizeyourmind #decolonize #architecture #arthistory #ornamental #folkart #folkculture #minimalist #minimalism #maximalism #embroidery #craft #crafting #victorianhome

I’ve been dreaming of the @jmkac show, ā€œA Beautiful Experience: The Midwest Grottoā€ (and the work there by artist @stephaniehshih ) since I saw it when it first openedā¤ļø I wish I could see it for a third time before it closes on the 10th!! What a huge accomplishment and a truly powerful exhibition by the Kohler, once again ā¤ļø #arthistory #folkart #midwest #immigrantrights #aapiheritagemonth

What if our desire to touch the art…actually isn’t such a bad thing? Sure, it’s super annoying when people do it when they’re not supposed to. But it’s a natural human urge, to interact and love the art we see. Whay if we changed the way we think about art, as something that not only can be touched, but SHOULD be touched? I absolutely love all of these things that many Italian museums have been doing (for way longer than you’d think) to allow people who are blind or have challenges with sight interact with not just art, but architecture as well! It doesn’t just help them, but everyone learn more and benefit from art. #italy #artmuseum #disability #blind #arthistory

This is why I was up at 5am yesterday 🄹 Happy May Happy May! Also, this video contains very folky ✨folk history✨ - no cited sources here y’all, more like stories told at dance practices for and May Days upon decades. The original of Morris dancing are very contested! The Kingsessing Morris Dancers have been doing their thing for 49 years here in Philadelphia, and they’ve been joined by a younger and just as wonderful troupe, the @renegademorris Renegade Morris Dancers! For the very very important labor aspect of May Day, I’ll refer you to @ladyizdihar ā€˜s perfect reel yesterday. Unite workers of the world, and Happy May! #mayday #morrisdancing #folkart #arthistory #folkdance

Like, shouldn’t this be….bigger news? Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot to be concerned about in the *rest* of the manifesto. HIGHLY concerned. But while a Verge post translated all of the different points into ā€œhumanā€ , they missed a big one: that Palantir thinks that wants Germany and Japan were ā€œneuteredā€ after the war…and that we should let them make weapons again??! History is repeating here in a way that makes me feel *cwazy* and I honestly feel like I’m the only one that’s seeing some of it. I obsessively scour through the news to find stuff like this. And honestly I’m finding out even more now because I’m starting to replace my doomscrolling with scrolling on Ground News instead, who I’m legitimately so proud to be a partner with because they help me come across all of these crumbs of truth that I bring to y’all. And they’re giving you guys 40% off atttt ✨ groundnews.com/isa ✨(in my stories and bio) so we can all scour the news as a coping mechanism (that genuinely helps us all) together šŸ¤ #groundnewspartner #ai #palantir #technews #bellaciao

Also, these thieves would like, stretch a wire on the ground that would get caught on people’s ankles, trip them, and then mug them. So the light was extremely necessary, not just to see them coming, but to suss out their traps! There’s nothing I love more than scampering around a city with a camera and discovering new things on every corner. And this is one of the many reasons why Naples is the best place to do just that (and the most underrated.) These Catholic shrines (which blend easily into shrines to local secular heroes as well) are a new version of an Ancient Roman practice. Each one is a unique form of self expression, beautiful in its own way. #naples #italian #arthistory #ancientrome #architecture
