@intersections.project Asked the question “What does Femininity look like to me?” Strength, Beauty, Love and Angelic Those were the words that came to mind. So I used those to create this Statuesque women !Making this piece was really fun utilizing watercolor and gouache I used bright vibrant colors to help her stand out. I cannot wait for you to see the next step in this project, change is coming soon 🤫🩵

⚔️ • THE CHAMPION • ⚔️ At first glance, this illustration looks like a poster for a fantasy adventure. But with closer inspection, you’ll notice it is filled with depth and meaning using creative shape language and symbolism. Curves everywhere allude to a feminine hourglass figure, but also to the fluidity of gender identity. The moon, often correlated with women with it’s monthly cycle, is shown here in a full eclipse, representing a pivotal moment of beginning anew. The sword is oversized, sharp and heavy, meant to be swung, unflinchingly, with both hands to break through the invisible but sorely felt patriarchal barriers in our modern culture. The shape of the blade mirrors that of the praying mantis’s body, an icon of female self-preservation found in nature. Where the point of the blade touches the earth, flowers and little winged things begin to grow. The feminist battle for equity is not with the intention of harm, or cutting down others, but with the intention of creating space for equitable growth. ✨ Stay tuned for more tomorrow ✨
