Sometimes man’s best friend can spin some pretty tall stories… and for this week’s Wild One Naarm-based rockers Internet Romance hold their adorable but conniving miniature dachshund to account.
Directed, produced and edited by Internet Romance’s guitarist (and proud dog dad) Harris Abdallah for his debut directorial project, ‘My Dog's A Liar’ features a whole heap of cute doggos and their sharply-dressed humans rocking out. The track itself was inspired by Harris and vocalist Tilly’s sausage dog Bentley who often pretends that he hasn't been fed. “Before his dinner, he often scratches our feet or does a spin, so sometimes after one of us had already fed him, he'd still do those actions, leaving us scratching our heads” explain the band. “We'd then ask each other "Has Bentey been fed?" With the answer always being "Yes!" we'd laugh and say "You're such a liar Bentley". From there we’d often joke that if Bentley was a human, he’d be a morally corrupt person.”
The video was shot at Heaviside in Port Melbourne in a single day with the help of friends, family and beautiful people the band scouted through a callout in a Melbourne dachshund group. “Our biggest concern was how was the studio going to handle all of these dogs” says the band. “Would World War 3 breakout? Harris set his tripod up as he wanted most shots to be static with only a slow zoom in some parts. There was a variety of scenes, from an arguing couple who then make up, the hot fit couple who fought for the limelight, the two besties and the too cool group who eventually give in and go crazy.”
