We are deeply saddened by the tragic accident involving the Trans Aero MedEvac crew in New Mexico this morning. Although they were not part of the Intermountain team, losses like this are felt across the entire air medical and first responder community.
Our thoughts and prayers are with these heroes, their families, loved ones, friends, and the entire Trans Aero team as they face this unimaginable loss.
Really exciting day for our ground teams!
Our logistics team coordinated an equipment review with two gurney vendors and eight EMTs and paramedics representing multiple states and departments. The group spent time in the classroom learning and hands-on demos with the different systems.
The teams will develop a recommendation for leadership based on criteria they established together.
A big thank-you to our caregivers for their engagement and collaboration, and to our vendor partners for traveling to support these demos. 💪
Meet Hunter Maddox, Flight Nurse 🚁
Born and raised in Steamboat Springs, CO, Hunter’s path to flight medicine started early tagging along with family members on air medical ride-alongs in high school and seeing firsthand the impact of this work. Today, he’s serving the very community that shaped him, bringing care full circle in a way that’s deeply personal.
For Hunter, what makes this work special is the trust built between crew members. In high-stakes moments, that bond is everything, and it’s something you can’t replicate anywhere else.
When he’s not flying, you’ll find him outside camping, mountain biking, or skiing and chasing after his 1-year-old son at home.
Joint training with Grand County Search and Rescue and our Moab, Utah crew.
Great opportunity to build relationships, strengthen coordination, and train together in real-world conditions.
Stronger teamwork leads to stronger outcomes in the field. @grandcountysheriff

Caregiver Spotlight: Dayna Kinzel
Administrative Coordinator
With an incredible 25 years at Intermountain, Dayna Kinzel is a dedicated part of the Flight & Ambulance team at Valley Center Tower—someone her colleagues can consistently count on. She takes pride in being a connector, helping bring people and resources together so teams can stay focused on delivering their best care.
One of her most memorable experiences came during a hoist training in Emigration Canyon, where she was lifted into a helicopter. It’s a moment that perfectly captures the unique, hands-on nature of her work—and one she’ll never forget.
Outside of work, Dayna embraces adventure and the outdoors. Whether she’s camping, 4-wheeling, Jeeping, ziplining, skydiving, or hiking, she’s always seeking her next experience—often with family by her side. She also has a unique hobby as a “rock hound,” with a special eye for heart-shaped stones.
A piece of advice that has stayed with her comes from Oprah: life is about finding yourself, embracing your strengths and weaknesses, and staying true to who you are. It’s a mindset Dayna brings to both her work and her life—steady, authentic, and always ready for the next adventure.
Thanks, Dayna, for all you do to keep us running smoothly!
This week, we’re celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (Dispatchers Week) and recognizing the incredible communications caregivers across our entire system.
While these photos highlight one team, the impact reaches far beyond a single center. Across the industry, telecommunicators are the calm, steady voices behind the scenes—bringing clarity, coordination, and compassion in life’s most critical moments.
In Murray, the team is celebrating with fun daily themes that reflect the camaraderie and connection that make this work possible. That same spirit of teamwork shows up across all of our communications teams—and it’s what helps them navigate a high-stress environment with strength and consistency.
To every communications caregiver: thank you. For your focus, your resilience, and the way you show up for each other and for every call. You are an essential part of the care we provide every day.
Caregiver Spotlight: Jessica Fisk, Communications Specialist
With five years at Intermountain, Jessica Fisk is a steady, experienced voice behind the scenes in the Comms Center in Murray, Utah—bringing clarity, calm, and connection when it matters most.
One of the most powerful lessons her role has taught her is learning to be okay without knowing the outcome. While many of us are raised to seek answers and closure, Jessica’s work often ends without knowing how a story finishes. Instead, she focuses on what she can control: showing up, doing her part to the best of her ability, and trusting the process. It’s a mindset that shapes both her professional and personal life.
Jessica takes pride in her resilience and deep knowledge. She has trained more than 36 new hires, adapting to different personalities and learning styles while navigating a constantly evolving environment. This experience has made her a trusted team member and strengthened her confidence.
Outside of work, Jessica embraces her time off—traveling (28 countries), snowboarding, camping, and spending time with her dog. After difficult shifts, she resets in whatever way she needs, always making a point to leave work at work.
Her perspective is a powerful reminder: even without knowing the ending, showing up still makes all the difference.
We're so grateful for Jessica!
