Today marks the 78th year of the first major mass displacement of Indigenous Palestinians from Historic Palestine. How will you share/talk about the #Nakba today?

Traditional Palestinian Costume (2nd Edition) by Hanan Karaman Munayyer, published by and available from @interlinkbooks . I have been practising a *lot* of mindfulness with tatreez related purchases this year, but with encouragement from Iris @thestrawberrythief (she didn’t have to try too hard tbh) I had to make an exception for this beautiful book. The embossing and embroidery elements on the cover and slipcase immediately draw you in before you begin to explore the extraordinary amount of detail given to Palestinian costume and embroidery inside. I’m so looking forward to building my knowledge of the regional techniques and designs, something that is always in need of development when Wafa’s quizzes on @tatreezandtea come along! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• #tatreez #freepalestine #palestine#palestinianembroidery #palestiniancostume

Highly anticipated and hot off the presses!!! HOMOSEXUAL INTIFADA is a powerful and groundbreaking anthology spotlighting the voices of queer Palestinian writers from both the diaspora and homeland. Find it in store and online, and stay tuned for more news about this title coming very soon… This first-of-its-kind collection features a dynamic range of LGBTQ+ Palestinian perspectives through deeply personal essays, short stories, poetry, comics, photo essays, and memoir. Centering queer Palestinian identity and experience, this essential volume explores themes of displacement, assimilation, belonging, and love across geographies—from Jerusalem and Ramallah to New York, Beirut, and beyond. These stories, often silenced or misrepresented in Western media, challenge false narratives, boldly reclaim agency, and dismantle stereotypes. Contributors include celebrated and emerging queer Palestinian authors such as Noor Hindi, Mejdulene Bernard Shomali, Elias Jahshan, Randa Jarrar, and more. More than just a literary work, Homosexual Intifada is a radical act of visibility. It challenges the pinkwashing of queer identities in service of imperial agendas and affirms the existence, resilience, and diversity of LGBTQ+ Palestinians worldwide. This collection is a vital contribution to queer literature, Arab identity, and decolonial thought.

Our book of the week this week is ARAB AMERICAN BLUES, Paul Aziz Zarou's coming-of-age novel set against the political upheaval and cultural reckoning of 1960s America. ARAB AMERICAN BLUES follows Michael Haddad, the teenage son of Palestinian immigrants, as he grows up in his family’s working-class New York City grocery store, delivering food through a changing neighborhood in 1967. As racism, social unrest, and generational expectations collide, Michael must confront a sudden personal tragedy and reckon with what it means to be a dutiful son, an Arab American, and an individual seeking freedom. Ultimately, he must face his fears, embrace his heritage, and claim his place in a rapidly changing nation. ARAB AMERICAN BLUES is out now from our friends at @interlinkbooks .
