What We Do at Intercom Trust 🌟
We are excited to welcome in a new year here at Intercom, and to get back to our vital work for our LGBT+ communities across Devon and Cornwall.
🌈 Intercom Trust is a community-led charity that aims to build a South West region where people are treated with respect, celebrated, and where vibrant LGBT+ communities live with real equality.
❤ Our services aim to support, help and advocate for our clients, promote equality and justice, and provide transparency and confidentiality to maintain high professional standards in our work.
We wanted to reintroduce our services for a new year and tell you about how we can help you to get the support that you need.
➡️ Our Support and Advocacy service is here to provide one-to-one emotional and practical support for individuals of all ages throughout Devon and Cornwall who are struggling with their gender identity and/or sexual orientation and the related impacts on their lives.
➡️ The Low-Cost Counselling service for clients aged 18 and over provides more in-depth, therapeutic support for people experiencing higher levels of emotional and mental distress linked to being LGBT+.
➡️ Our LGBT+ Directory contains over 100 LGBT+ community groups, charities and organisations across the South West for LGBT+ people to connect and find community and support.
➡️ Our Young and Yourself (YAY) youth group is based in Cornwall and provides LGBTQ+ young people aged 13-25 with a safe and relaxed space to meet each other and find community.
➡️ The Safer Rainbow Project can provide you with support if you have experienced domestic abuse and/or sexual violence, and can help you navigate the complex issues involved in abusive relationships and experiences.

After 20 fabulous years at Intercom Trust, our CEO Andy Hunt will be stepping down in June to begin a new chapter in his life.
When he first joined Intercom Trust, Andy worked with just 75 clients across Devon and Cornwall. Last year alone, we supported over 4,000 people, a powerful reflection of Andy’s vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to building a more inclusive and compassionate South West.
True to form, Andy is moving on to pursue new interests that reflect his curiosity and energy, including an enthusiasm for dog psychology alongside focusing on personal matters following the flood at his home earlier this year.
While he may be stepping away from his role as CEO, he is very much leaving on good terms and will continue to work with Intercom Trust through training and consultancy.
Throughout his time with us, Andy has brought passion, determination, and a relentless drive to improve outcomes for our communities. His leadership has shaped Intercom Trust into the organisation it is today, and his impact will be felt for many years to come.
To borrow one of Andy’s favourite phrases: life has never been boring! and we have no doubt that whatever comes next in his life will live up to that sentiment.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and all staff at Intercom Trust, we would like to thank Andy for everything he has given to the organisation and wish him every happiness and success in the future.
