Meet Flash Bee 🐝⚡
A compact, smart device that detects lightning strikes and informs you of the distance to the storm—before you even hear the thunder.
It is built using the Grove Lightning Sensor AS3935 and the XIAO ESP32 C3, paired with a round display for XIAO from @seeedstudio . Flash Bee continuously monitors the sky for lightning electromagnetic pulse (EMP) activity.
When a strike is detected, it provides an instant report on the estimated distance in kilometres—up to 40 km away. It can also monitor

-strike energy history
The device filters out indoor noise, ignores false triggers, and only alerts you when there's a genuine lightning event.
No cloud. No app. Just pure embedded magic.

Turn Your Hot Wheels into Art
I recently acquired a 1:64 scale F1 car that looks fantastic. This inspired me to think of a creative way to display it. I decided to design a custom 3D-printed display stand with integrated LED lights, which can be controlled wirelessly using WLED. This setup allows me to manage each LED section individually. The stand can either sit on a desk or be mounted directly onto a pegboard.
I would like to flexible COB LED lights for this project
It is controlled using @seeedstudio COB LED driver paired with XIAO ESP32-C3

Helical Homeware | Snap-together Chair Kit
The first chair prototype, in pine, made from a universal kit of furniture components called ‘helical’ that I’ve been developing, soon to be open sourced. The end goal is to create a set of parts that can be used again and again across different kinds of furniture assemblies (think chair -> coffee table -> step stool), towards circularity and democratised repair through crowdsourced design evolution.
