We are excited to announce we will be participating in @powerhouse_arts ‘s CONDUCTOR: Art Fair from April 30th through May 3rd.
With a special project from Mexican artist 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗶. Her work weaves together layered histories—ceramic fragments, volcanic ground, and woven mats—through the Bargello embroidery technique. Using hand-dyed fibers on ayate, 𝗣𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗶 transforms a traditional craft into a vibrant field where body, material, and memory intersect.

Con un proyecto especial de la artista mexicana 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗶. Su trabajo entrelaza historias superpuestas—fragmentos cerámicos, suelo volcánico y tejidos—mediante la técnica de bordado Bargello. 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 is a Brazilian artist based in London whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, printmaking, film, and writing. Her work explores the entanglement between bodies, landscapes, and planetary systems, often blurring the boundaries between the human and the nonhuman.
Drawing from science fiction, ecological thought, and the histories of colonial extraction in Brazil, 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 constructs speculative environments where figures appear in states of transformation, merging with mineral, vegetal, and atmospheric elements.
Born in 1991 in Brazil, 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 studied at Wimbledon College of Arts and the Slade School of Fine Art in London. Her work has been exhibited in the UK and internationally. Turmina’s practice has also been featured in platforms and publications like Art in Latin America and Sun Dreams: Art Mirages in Latin America, reflecting a growing critical engagement with her work.

𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 es una artista brasileña radicada en Londres cuya práctica multidisciplinaria abarca pintura, grabado, cine y escritura. Su trabajo explora la interrelación entre cuerpos, paisajes y sistemas planetarios, difuminando las fronteras entre lo humano y lo no humano.
A partir de la ciencia ficción, el pensamiento ecológico y la historia de extracción colonial en Brasil, 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 construye entornos especulativos donde las figuras aparecen en estados de transformación, fusionándose con elementos minerales, vegetales y atmosféricos.
Nacida en 1991 en Brasil, 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 estudió en Wimbledon College of Arts y en la Slade School of Fine Art en Londres. Su trabajo se ha exhibido en el Reino Unido e internacionalmente. One year ago 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗿𝗶́𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘇 (𝗠𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗷𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗵𝘂) opened his wings and took to the sky.
A couple of years ago, we traveled to Venice with 𝗗𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 and Abuela Elisa. He had been invited to the Biennale—an immense moment: his work meeting the world, his vision opening to new eyes.
Amid canals and ancient reflections, 𝗗𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 asked me a question that has never left me: “What fish live beneath these rivers?”
I had been there many times, yet I had never asked myself that. And in that simple curiosity was everything: his way of seeing, of feeling, of never separating art from life, nor the city from the nature quietly sustaining it.
𝗗𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 opened paths with questions. He reminded us how easy it is to lose our connection to what truly matters… and at the same time, he showed us how to return.
Today, I want to believe that, through his work, that bridge still stands. That we are still learning to see as he did: with wonder, with respect, with love.

Hace un año 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗿𝗶́𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘇 (𝗠𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗷𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗵𝘂) abrió sus alas y emprendió vuelo al cielo.
Hace un par de años viajamos a Venecia con 𝗗𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 y la abuela Elisa. Había sido invitado a la Bienal, un momento inmenso: su obra encontrándose con el mundo, su mirada abriéndose a nuevos ojos.
Entre canales y reflejos antiguos, 𝗗𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 me hizo una pregunta que nunca me ha dejado: “¿Qué peces hay debajo de estos ríos?”
Había estado allí muchas veces, pero jamás me lo había preguntado. Y en esa simple curiosidad estaba todo: su manera de ver, de sentir, de no separar nunca el arte de la vida, ni la ciudad de la naturaleza que la sostiene en silencio.
𝗗𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 abría caminos con preguntas. Nos recordaba lo fácil que es desconectarnos de lo esencial… y, al mismo tiempo, nos enseñaba a volver.
Hoy quiero creer que, gracias a su obra, ese puente sigue en pie. Que seguimos aprendiendo a mirar como él: con asombro, con respeto, con amor.

What does it mean to look at the sky right now?
As missions like Artemis II prepare to carry human bodies back into deep space, the sky is no longer distant—it’s crowded, regulated, and increasingly controlled. But in Sᴘᴀᴄᴇ ɪs Pᴜɴᴋ, Brazilian artist 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 invites us to see it differently.
Born in Brazil and based in London, 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 creates paintings that resist clarity. They are unstable, strange, and quietly rebellious—opening space for imagination at a time when space itself is being mapped, owned, and instrumentalized.
Drawing from thinkers like Lucian Walkowicz and Cris van Eijk, her work questions who gets to decide the future of space—and how we might reclaim it as something more collective, more poetic, and less certain.
Because dreaming doesn’t happen outside of crisis. It happens in the middle of it.

¿Qué significa mirar el cielo ahora?
Mientras misiones como Artemis II se preparan para llevar cuerpos humanos de regreso al espacio profundo, el cielo ya no es distante: está saturado, regulado y cada vez más controlado. Pero en SPACE IS PUNK, la artista brasileña 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 nos invita a verlo de otra manera.
Nacida en Brasil y basada en Londres, 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 crea pinturas que se resisten a la claridad. Son inestables, extrañas y silenciosamente rebeldes, abriendo espacio para la imaginación en un momento en que el espacio mismo está siendo cartografiado, apropiado e instrumentalizado.
Tomando referencias de pensadores como Lucian Walkowicz y Cris van Eijk, su trabajo cuestiona quién tiene el poder de decidir el futuro del espacio —y cómo podríamos recuperarlo como algo más colectivo, más poético y menos definido.
Porque soñar no ocurre fuera de la crisis. Ocurre dentro de ella.

In recognition of International Women’s Month, we remember 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼—an artist who understood art as a path inward, a way of discovering the essence of the human being. In this video, her daughter Silvana Roiter reflects on 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼’𝘀 work and what she sought to express through it.
“As an artist and as a person, recognition in life comes from staying in contact with my inner self and discovering the essence of the human being. I use art as my mirror. My pieces and installations reflect my inner self—they are, in turn, my mirror.”
𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼 (1951–2010), born in Barranquilla, Colombia, was a distinguished conceptual artist whose practice spanned painting, installation, sculpture, and performance. Her work was exhibited across France, Spain, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Hungary, Australia, and the United States. Grounded in a profound understanding of simplicity as a fundamental element of human essence, her legacy—now part of Colombia’s national cultural heritage—continues to inspire new generations.
