Over half a lifetime ago I met Bert when I got a job as a cook at his restaurant bar ‘Odessa’ in Leiden. I worked there for 5-6 years straight and easily we became friends. I always enjoyed his energetic way of thinking and doing and he enjoyed my work (the graffiti stuff) and supported my art and every now and then he would buy some artwork off me. Today we had a last little talk, and then oddly said goodbye like we would speak soon again.. No more time for words. A little part of Bert lives on within me. Rest in a lot’s of lovely memories My thoughts are with Bert Jansen, his family, relatives and friends. NB Reinhard Mey ‘Gute Nacht Freunde’ as played on my dad’s funeral five years ago.

Check out The Hop Inspector — a collaboration with @twochefsbrewing . For this project, we developed a series of robot illustrations for their new IPA line. Designed to support the brewery crew in their day-to-day operations, each robot plays a specific role. The Hop Inspector was the first in the series — and we decided to bring it to life as a designer toy. @mixil translated the character into a detailed 3D model, which was then produced as a resin edition by @the.zepps . Each piece was hand-painted by me, while @vistafutura3001 elevated the project with a dynamic, Pixar-style animation. The result is a fully realized character that now forms part of my latest exhibition — and marks my very first designer toy release. The Hop Inspector is available in a limited edition of 10, with a glass bell jar and a magnifier with real glass. 13 x 16 cm, at a price of € 300.- In addition, the first three orders will receive a free 12-pack of Inspector Tony West Coast IPA (worth €54).
