2023 will always the year I bought my dream car and drove it home to my garage.
Granted, I didn’t drive it very much after that. That’s what 2024 is for, it seems.

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster of a day. Today we said good bye to our old stalwart family wagon. We had four years and 43,000 miles with Svetlana the Superb - but it was time to move on, and so we decided to look for something new.
Happily, we settled on a car I’ve wanted ever since I saw the concept version unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in 2019. I still think the Hyundai Ioniq 5 looks like nothing else on the road, a concept car made real. That one made financial sense for us to buy (sort of) got me very excited.
After a bit of digging we found this 2022 example with 23,000 miles at a dealer willing to extend the warranty by three years. A good battery state of health and faultless drive meant I was willing to overlook the swirly paintwork (anyone handy with a mop?!)
So here’s the new addition to the family: Evie (the EV, obviously! 😂). Genuinely can’t believe one of these is now our family car and I’m so excited for the new memories we’re going to create with her!

Putting the new Citroën Holidays camper to the test this week with not one but two separate camping trips.
Behind the slightly naff name, it seems like a great mid-size option so far - comfortable and easy to drive, with a smartly finished habitation area that does a lot with the space on offer. The pop-up roof is a doddle to open and close, and the overhead bed contained within is one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in.
Only downside I’ve found so far is the lack of standard flatscreens in the hab area, which means lots of insects find their way in and get stuck in the mesh ‘windows’ of the roof.
