I’ve been a little quiet lately, giving myself the chance to finally update my website — something I haven’t properly touched since 2019. Very slack of me… terribly embarrassed 🙈
But while doing this, it has also given me the chance to tidy up and archive my past projects properly. As a very messy person with things everywhere, it’s actually been such a great process to revisit old works and memories.
Along the way, I came across some old drawings from my Honours degree in Drawing — memories of experimenting with red, string, objects, and space, more than simply holding a pencil, brush, paint, or paper. It was such a beautiful time of play and discovery.
And in many ways, I realise I’m still drawing with string, still working with red, still engaging with paper and space.
It’s come a long way…
Also, a big shout out to my dear friend Louise @llemorga for helping me update my website 💻🙏 ❤️
Please feel free to visit my updated website ✨Still slowly updating and organising everything… but it’s finally happening 🙈✌️

Finally, “Songs That Lost Their Voice” 「失語之歌」 is coming to an end.
Thank you to everyone who came to the opening, and not only visited, but truly participated in the work. Your presence and support have meant so much to me.
This is one of those rare works that leaves me feeling proud, happy, and content. What a blessing, and a beautiful way to begin the Year of the 🐎🧧❤️
I sang — but not with my voice.
This documentary records the only performance created for “Songs That Lost Their Voice”,
presented on the opening night of “Echoes of The Firecracker”.
The exhibition explores how sound shapes ritual, identity, and belonging across cultures.
In this installation, I found myself drawn to the sounds of language —
especially Cantonese, carrying the earliest memories of home.
Working on this piece allowed me to return to Lunar New Year memories from back home —
the only time each year when my mum would make me new clothes,
and my dad would buy me a new pair of shoes.
The house was never quiet:
the constant ringing of the doorbell, people coming and going,
the busy sounds of the kitchen preparing festive food,
laughter filling every corner,
television music playing alongside mahjong, card games,
and children running endlessly through the rooms.
When creating a work about sound during such a festive time,
I found myself inevitably bringing these personal memories into the installation.
It is about home — the sounds I miss,
and also about what has happened to my homeland,
and how a voice can slowly be lost.
People may still appear joyful, still singing,
but one wonders whether it is truly their own voice.

Last days of “Songs That Lost Their Voice” 《失語之歌》— closing 5pm Sunday, 1 March.
Song no. 4
Glory to Hong Kong
Music: Thomas dgx yhl | Lyrics: Anonymous / Netizens, 2019
Created during the 2019 Anti-Extradition Movement, the song became an unofficial anthem, a shared voice carried through collective singing in public spaces.
Put on your headphones 🎧 and pick up the 🎤 sing along.

Some remain in memory. 👌🙏🧧

Final week of “Songs That Lost Their Voice” 《失語之歌》 — the exhibition ends Sunday, 1 March.
Song no. 2 on the list —
‘Queen Road East’ 「
Queen’s Road East
Lo Ta-yu(羅大佑, 1991)
One of the most iconic political satires in Cantopop history. Using humour and coded metaphors, the song reflects the anxiety of Hong Kong people in the early 1990s before the 1997 handover — “Noble Friend” (Queen Elizabeth II), “Great Comrade” (Chinese Communist leadership), and “horses will still run” (Deng Xiaoping’s promise of no change to daily life).
The lyrics also allude to mass emigration in the early 1990s. Because of its political sensitivity, the song has been banned in Mainland China multiple times.
Put your headphones on, pick up the 🎤, and sing along 👌🙏🧧

“Songs That Lost Their Voice” is an interactive installation using karaoke and Cantonese pop to reflect on language loss, silenced voices, and diasporic experience.
The work considers how voices can be softened, marginalised, or silenced by social and political structures.
