I KNOW is for bird lovers, deep divers and cinematic art pop hearts.
Thank you for all the beautiful words that have reached us so far. I feel exhausted and happy at the same time: these songs are finally coming to life. It was an intense ride, but a beautiful flight.

HERBST IN PEKING were still in the middle of the „night flight“ and heading towards the absolute zero point, when Captain Rex Joswig was suddenly and unexpectedly pulled out of the cockpit. Fortunately, he had not yet finished his „song“ and his hourglass still had enough grains in the upper half, so that after a time between „White Walls“ he can now finally reflect again on „Being & Having“. Of course, this extreme borderline experience affected him in some way, and so the new HIP album sounds, at first impression, much more stripped-down, contemplative, and quiet. However, the first impression is once again deceptive, because in the background the fire continues to blaze, a clever mind thinks, and the subtle memory-SUICIDE rhythm patterns of Helmar Kreysig rattle on! Played almost tenderly, beautiful space-guitar melodies by King Snow, aka Pegman, accompany Rex Joswig's this time very subdued and partially altered vocals, which nevertheless continue to be the reliable hypnotic echo sound for HIP. The otherwise ever-present dub has almost completely faded from focus across the 10 new tracks in total, but will return massively with the upcoming "Mond Rauch & Marijuana" album. For now, however, "Faust am Meer" is spinning first, and this time, spinning is to be taken literally, as for the first time since the "The Tyger & The Fly" EP, the album is finally also being released on vinyl alongside the CD. This has been made possible by the small but excellent label Rundling, which had the record pressed in golden as well as classic black vinyl, and which sounds absolutely superb! Whether „Faust“ by Goethe is a tragedy in Auerbach's Cellar, on the beach of Africa, or on Stalinallee in Berlin, the album is my record of the year and another musical shedding for HIP! When I shared my concerns with Rex Joswig at our last meeting about reaching new audiences with „Faust am Meer“, he just put his hand on my shoulder and said dryly: „Marco, do we really want to do this anymore?“

Today, The Call comes into the light - after sleeping for so long. I don’t quite remember how I felt when I wrote it, but it was a feeling of departure, of letting go - like shedding an old skin to step into a more authentic self.
Half a year ago, the song called me back. And now again, I find myself in the middle of another transition.
Thank you to everyone who’s listening - today and tomorrow. And thank you to all who are part of the journey.
I’m proud to have produced this song myself - and to have created the artwork and videos on my own this time, too. But none of this would’ve been possible without the support of friends, collaborators, and my amazing team.
Endless gratitude. Happy The Call Day.
Out now - on the artist-run label La Double Vie @la__doublevie …
