I am immensely proud to step into the role of President of Bears LA. And before anything else, I need to say thank you to @instagabe77 Gabriel didn’t just lead this organization. He carried it. For years. Through sheer will, heart, and an almost stubborn level of devotion. There were moments where Bears LA could have easily faded, and it didn’t, because he refused to let it. And on a very personal note, he changed my life. He saw me at a chili cookoff, of all places. I was just there, existing. And he plucked me out of obscurity and pulled me in. Gave me community. Gave me a chosen family. That’s not a small thing. That’s everything. I also want to thank my title brother @bapho.matt , our Mr. Bear LA. He’s been my rock and my best friend through all of this work. A meticulous planner, an incredible advocate, and someone who shows up every single time. I’m so excited he’ll be stepping into the role of Event Director. We’re going to build some really special things together. And my title dad @ekim1406 A steady guide, a calming presence, and someone who has helped me stay grounded through all of this. I’m deeply grateful he’ll be stepping up to help lead as we rebuild the board. So this next chapter, for me, is about honoring all of that. It’s about lifting people the way Gabriel lifted me. Breathing new life into Bears LA. Building something that feels active, intentional, and shared. Bringing back membership. Building a board that reflects the community. Creating committees so more people can shape what this becomes. Raising money, showing up, taking care of each other, and making space for people to belong without having to perform or shrink. And I want to be really clear about something. If you have the spirit of a bear, you are welcome here. Even if you don’t feel like one physically. Even if you’re not sure where you fit yet. Bears LA is for everyone. And everyone is for Bears LA. This isn’t just an organization. It’s a living, breathing thing. A community we choose to build together. And I’m really, really excited to do that with you. 🐻💛

Thousands lined Hollywood Boulevard on Sunday, June 8, for the 55th annual LA Pride Parade, despite immigration protests and a growing National Guard presence stirring tension elsewhere in Los Angeles. The LGBTQ+ community and its allies in Los Angeles County showed up loud and proud, celebrating resilience, identity, and joy with rainbow flags, glitter, and music — all under this year’s theme, Pride Marches On. The parade came just days after reports of increased immigration enforcement activity by federal agents. Organizers responded directly, saying they were working closely with local law enforcement to ensure safety for all attendees—especially undocumented, immigrant, and mixed-status families: “At LA Pride, your safety is our top priority. In light of recent reports of ICE activity across the region, we want our community–especially our undocumented, immigrant, and mixed-status families–to know that we are actively working with local law enforcement to ensure a safe and welcoming environment at all Pride events.We stand with you. Today’s @lapride parade march wasn’t just a celebration it was an affirmation. It was about reminding the world that we have the right to exist and that we have the right to belong. The LA Leather/Kink Community recognizes the importance of diversity and the need for ALL voices to be heard. Our community represents the need for freedom, to ability to express yourself and the right to be who you are. In a time when our country is trying to silence and erase the existence of People Of Color, LGBTQ+, especially our trans siblings and immigrants, our presence is a reminder to this country that we are embedded in the fabric of this nation. Our presence is also a statement that those who came before us, who fought for us and who contributed to us having human rights today, have made this country better and their legacy will never be forgotten or denied! To stand up and proudly say “this who I am!” is an act of courage. While it is not easy, letting the world know you exist is an act of resistance! Thank you for everyone who was able to march with us today and giving people the strength and empowerment to be brave in the face of fear and adversity. Still buzzing from The Big Bear Meeting. 🐻✨ We came together at Pitfire Pizza with a room full of heart, ideas, and sexy bears who actually want to build, and it showed. BEARS 👏 SHOW 👏 UP 👏 We shared where Bears LA is headed. A return to formal membership. A new board structure. Committees to help us grow and actually get things done. A renewed focus on fundraising, community care, outreach, and building spaces where people can just be.
