I had shared these ideas during the India Ultimate Coaching Certification recently, and a few people asked if I could share the key takeaways. So I put this together. Spirit of the Game is often misunderstood. Many people think Spirit means being polite or avoiding disagreement. That is not what Spirit means. Spirit exists to protect the integrity of competition. In Ultimate, players apply the rules themselves. That means both teams share responsibility for keeping the game fair. Both teams are trying to answer one question: Who is the better team today?⚖️ The rules create the balance that allows the game to answer that question honestly. When players exaggerate calls, bend the rules, or argue only to win the discussion, the (fulcrum) balance shifts. The result no longer reflects what actually happened on the field. That is why discussions are not about winning the argument. They are about reconstructing what happened and reaching the fairest outcome possible. Protect the truth of the play. Play hard. Play fair. As players, we are not only competitors. We are also guardians of the game. ❤️

One question for all the humans who make crawls and the crow look easy — how? 😂😂 Because I am out here fighting gravity like my life depends on it. Added these to my warm up today as part of my play. Slowly, mostly awkwardly, but joyfully. . . . . . #Iamthequad #iamthequadcow #delayedgratification #MovementPractice #bodyweighttraining

Content: Grief, loss Grief has been arriving in shards, in spills, in sudden waves, and in small, tearful smiles as I remember her warmth. 18 days since Paati passed, I keep finding pieces of her everywhere and pieces of myself learning how to carry this. . . . . . #GriefAndLove #RememberingPaati #LoveAndLoss #FamilyStories #QuietMoments

My dearest Paati, A. Soundari Ammal (95), passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of yesterday morning. I am sharing this here because she touched so many lives, and I know many of you knew her, met her, or felt her warmth in some way. She was also the kind of person who never spoke about her generosity, so these last few hours have brought with them new stories of her kindness. If you knew her, or know our family, you are most welcome to attend the 16th day ceremony on 7th May at our home in Sholavandan. Please do RSVP so we can make arrangements accordingly. Thank you for your understanding.

A split-screen comparison: Top: before the cues Bottom: one week of working on them Still very much a work in progress. But it’s gratifying to see how much can change. The cues were simple: look ahead, push the floor away, and pull the feet up. A week of reps, a lot of visualising, and a better sense of what to focus on. Process goals aren't not dramatic - Just a little more shape, a little more control, and a little more understanding. -- crow pose practice • before and after • crow pose cues • movement practice • skill learning • yoga balance • bodyweight training • visualisation in training • progress through repetition • hollow body position • gaze forward cue • movement progress -- . . . . . #iamthequadcow #Iamthequad #CrowPose #MovementPractice #SkillPractice

I rely on visualising a lot too. It’s one of the most useful tools I have. These were the cues a friend was kind enough to share with me: Look ahead. That little shift in gaze helped move the weight where it needed to go. Push the floor away. Belly button to spine. More hollow body. More control. Pull the feet up. Toes pointed. Feet drawing up towards the hips. Three small cues. A lot of reps. Sometimes progress in a new movement is not doing more. It’s just learning what to focus on. -- crow pose cues • crow pose practice • movement practice • skill learning • yoga balance • bodyweight training • hollow body position • pushing the floor away • gaze forward cue • progress through repetition • training mindset • learning a new movement • visualisation in training -- . . . . . #CrowPose #MovementPractice #SkillPractice #iamthequadcow #Iamthequad

A week of falling. Cramping. Overthinking. Walking away. Trying again. Not pretty. Definitely not linear. Still unrelenting. Some things only reveal themselves to the persevering version of us. We shall not be denied. The best is yet to come. 💪🏾 -- crow pose practice • skill learning • movement practice • falling and trying again • consistency • mobility and control • bodyweight training • yoga balance • training mindset • returning to practice • progress through repetition • movement journey -- . . . . #CrowPose #MovementPractice #Consistency #iamthequadcow #Iamthequad

Adult friendships are hard. They are often built on a scaffolding of shared spaces and commonalities — shared classrooms, routines, neighbourhoods, and, in our case, both our first workplaces and our love for Ultimate Frisbee. Once the daily or weekly access to each other disappears, what is left is a choice. The choice to keep showing up. To keep finding your way back. To make time. To still hold warmth for each other through the changing seasons of life. And that is what makes adult friendships so precious.❤️ -- adult friendships, long-term friendship, chosen family, shared history, meaningful connection, friendship in adulthood, growing together, making time, intentional friendship, ultimate frisbee friendship -- . . . . . #AdultFriendships #ChosenFamily #LongTermFriendship #nanbenda #UltimateFrisbee

When we’re too close to it, we’re often busy doubting, hesitating, second-guessing. Our view gets myopic. Our judgement gets clouded by our own worn lens. And sometimes, that’s exactly when a coach, teammate, friend, or training partner sees our capacity before we can see it ourselves. The best thing we can do is accept it for a while and keep moving, until our own belief catches up. And when we finally come through, it can feel like they were already speaking to the version of us that was waiting just ahead. -- borrowed belief • athlete mindset • support system • coaching matters • training partners • friendship and growth • mental resilience • self doubt • seeing potential • growth mindset • community in sport • personal growth -- . . . #BorrowedBelief #AthleteLife #supportsystem❤️ ##Iamthequad #iamthequadcow

We often act as though, if something matters enough, we should be able to do it on our own. Figure it out. Push through. Prove something. I’ve felt that too. But the longer I stay with anything that really matters, the more I realise: doing it alone is not a better kind of strength. It’s just heavier than it needs to be. - These are slightly unrelated photos from @thequad.in class that I wanted to keep, but maybe not that unrelated after all. The people I’ve been training around these last few months have been gold, and I’m deeply grateful for the energy, warmth, and kindness they’ve brought into that space.❤️🙌🏾 -- gym community • support system • athlete mindset • training partners • kindness in the gym • coaching matters • friendship and growth • mental resilience • showing up together • community in sport • personal growth • strength and support -- . . . . . #GymCommunity #SupportSystem #AthleteLife #iamthequad #iamthequadcow

இனிய தமிழ் புத்தாண்டு வாழ்த்துக்கள் (Iniya Tamil puthandu vaazhthukkal) — and belated Vishu wishes from all of us at Cherish Vintage Finds. 💛 The first image is one of our dealers rummaging through a fresh pile of goods to find something he had specifically kept aside for us. The third is what he found — a beautiful Brijbasi & Sons lithograph of Chandra Shekhar Azad. And then there is the second image, shared with us by @just.play_org , one of the organisations we were grateful to support last year. At first glance, it may look like a child simply writing in a notebook. But what moved us deeply was the note that came with it: this was the first time these children wrote in notebooks of their own. That put so much in perspective for us. At Cherish, we often speak about objects carrying memory, dignity, and care. Sometimes those objects are historic prints that survive decades and journeys. Sometimes they are something far simpler — a notebook, a pencil, a chance, a beginning. Both matter. Both hold hope. On this New Year, we hope your homes are filled not only with joy, but with kindness, empowerment, and the possibility of new beginnings. Because whether it is something carefully saved in a dealer’s pile, or a notebook placed in a child’s hands for the very first time, what we choose to value can shape the stories that come next. -- Tamil New Year, Puthandu wishes, belated Vishu wishes, Cherish Vintage Finds, Brijbasi and Sons print, Chandra Shekhar Azad print, historic prints India, vintage prints India, Just.Play nonprofit, dignity and care, memory in objects, new beginnings, heritage and humanity -- #TamilNewYear #Puthandu #Vishu #CherishVintageFinds #NewBeginnings
