A inicios de este año comenzamos a trabajar en la curaduría del pabellón de Uruguay para la Biennale Architettura 2023 con nuestra propuesta “En ópera: escenarios futuros de una joven Ley Forestal” junto a Carlos Casacuberta. Hoy, con la exposición finalizada y desmontada, queremos agradecer especialmente a las muchas personas e instituciones que colaboraron con el proyecto en sus diversas formas. “En ópera” fue visitada por unas 60mil personas en Venecia, fue expuesta en la sala principal del teatro más grande de Uruguay y obtuvo el Premio Nacional de Ordenamiento Territorial y Urbanismo en la categoría Eventos. 🪵✨ El domingo 1ero de octubre traemos “En ópera: escenarios futuros de una joven Ley Forestal” a la sala principal del Auditorio Nacional Adela Reta del SODRE, en Montevideo 🪵💕 La entrada es libre y gratuita 😊 Te esperamos de 18:00 a 21:30 horas ⏰ Vas a poder subir al escenario a disfrutar de la ópera! La pieza dura 15 minutos y será reproducida en loop. Entre 19:30 y 20:30 conversaremos sobre el proyecto y terminaremos reproduciendo nuevamente la ópera con un brindis 🥂 - La Ley Forestal de 1987 trajo al país cambios espaciales y territoriales sin precedentes. En esta singular ópera sobre arquitectura que representó a Uruguay en la Bienal de Venecia, la joven ley se mira al espejo, canta intentando comprender qué ocurre a su alrededor y reclama nuestra atención. Comparte escena con los espacios y cuerpos en torno a la madera en Uruguay y con una nueva generación de artistas musicales afro-uruguayos. Se viene el Festival de la Madera! 🪵 Del 18 al 24 de marzo en Rivera, Uruguay ☺️ ➡️ Ya podés inscribirte y conocer toda la información en festivaldelamadera.uy - El Festival de la Madera es un encuentro que busca poner en valor a la madera como materia prima local a través de una mirada ecosistémica que relaciona el material vivo y sus territorialidades, la arquitectura, el diseño y la construcción con las comunidades locales y regionales. El evento invita a trabajar de forma situada en el departamento de Rivera, como región protagonista del boom forestal del país, mediante prácticas espaciales, productivas y culturales que promuevan diálogos y pongan en relación una amplia diversidad de actores. El Festival de la Madera tendrá lugar durante una semana del mes de marzo de 2024 e incluirá talleres de diseño y construcción en madera, charlas y ponencias especializadas, feria de productos vinculados a la cadena forestal, espectáculos musicales y de artes escénicas. El encuentro es organizado por el proyecto cultural Campo Abierto, y su edición 2024 contará con la curadoría de MAPA+INST y Carlos Casacuberta, que darán continuidad a su proyecto En Ópera: Escenarios futuros de una joven Ley Forestal que representó a Uruguay en la Bienal de Arquitectura de Venecia de 2023.

Last week we had the unique opportunity to inaugurate our exhibition for the Pavilion of Uruguay at @labiennale in Venice with an amazing team of architects and artists ☺️ It’s called In Opera: Future Scenarios of a Young Forest Law and it’s going to be open for the public until November 26th. You can read more about the full project at enopera.uy ✨ - Since the birth of its Forestry Law, Uruguay, "a country with four cows per capita", has experienced unprecedented changes. For the first time, its exports from the forestry industry exceed those of meat, while its landscapes are being transformed. "In Opera" is a story told by this young law through a peculiar multi-authored opera. The law looks in the mirror and sings to us in an attempt to understand what is going on around it and why it does not receive the same attention as other regulations. In the piece, it shares the stage with the spaces, territories and bodies around the wood in Uruguay, along with musical interventions by a new generation of Afro-Uruguayan artists that interrupt the lyrical narrative. Thus, the Forestry Law is revealed as an active text that is part of a trans-scalar assemblage -legal, spatial, environmental and social- that can derive in the construction, symbolic and literal, of other multiple futures. The third act, “From forest to machine”, leads us into the intense processes of industrialization and technological development connected to the world of forestry. The arrival of immense industrial mills for cellulose pulp production has positioned Uruguay as one of the leading countries in the field. On the other hand, we witness the peak of the solid wood industry and the recent emergence of pioneering enterprises in the region for production of construction materials with new technologies.
