It’s finally time! Inner Function is back in full swing next week, March 25th! Join us for a limited series of workshops, Wednesdays 7-9pm, until May 20th. Graciously hosted at @_parquette 1435 rue de Bellechasse. Bring your friends! We’ll explore gradual flow, simple to complex coordinations, balance on one and two feet, fine reflex work and tons of improvisation situations. Our red thread is the constant conversation between sound and body, between rhythm and movement, both influencing and inspiring the other in oscillating, repeating loops. Découvrez notre approche - Discover our method: FR: Alec et John proposent une classe de danse axée sur le développement des capacités fonctionnelles et expressives du corps, le tout soutenu par la musique techno improvisée. Alec se sert de son vocabulaire en arts martiaux pour bonifier les aspects physiques de la performance dansée. L’élève est invité à danser sous les contraintes de l’équilibre, de la coordination et de ses propres réflexes à l’aide d’outils pratiques, comme des ceintures de jiu-jitsu, des blocs de Jenga et des balles de tennis pour atteindre un état performatif ludique. Inner Function est ouvert aux étudiants de tout niveau, et se déroule dans une atmosphère bilingue (FR/EN). EN: Alec and John offer a dance class to deepen the body’s expressive and functional capacities, fueled by live techno improvisations. Alec utilizes martial arts vocabulary to enhance the physical aspects of dance performance. The class incorporates balance, coordinations and reflexes, as well as practical tools such as BJJ belts, Jenga blocks and tennis balls to dance in conversation with the rhythm and tempo of John’s music. Inner Function is an all-levels class led by Alec in French and in English.
