my love affair with Kokoroko?
the brass sounds.
I always get the feeling they're having a secret conversation with my heart. sometimes even feeling ancestors gathering with today's generations, voices layering, answering, and holding each other, singing through different textures of people in a shared collective flow.
the London-based jazz collective blends afrobeat, highlife, and soul into warm, groove-heavy music that feels both intimate and expansive. led by Sheila Maurice-Grey, they stand out for their rich horn arrangements and deep DIASPORIC roots. not to mention a sound that prioritizes feeling over virtuosity less about standing out, more about moving together (my vibe).
see you on June 26th. â„ïž

I'm still seeking language for the environmental, geopolitical, and social shifts in motion. until then, this ancestral perspective on snowflakes, reciprocity, and finding ways to hold together is comforting.
