Thrilled to head to @dartmouthcollege with @omnionn and @infrapolitics on May 20 to talk journalism, Central America, and the United States! We'll be projecting "ICE is here!", first released at last year's Central American Journalism Forum @forocap_ in Antigua Guatemala. This photo concert, set to music by @Omnionn , looks at a prolonged new kristallnacht in the United States. Nine photographers reveal how the persecution of immigrants is unfolding during the Trump era. We also released it in El Faro English @elfaronet last year. ¡Nos vemos!

While the White House spreads violence, hatred, and white supremacy across the US by shutting borders and escalating detentions and deportations, all while creating humanitarian crises through blockades, wars, and imperial aggression across the world, we gathered in community over good food to talk about how the movements for climate justice and migrant justice are inextricably tied. Muchísimas gracias to Professor Cuéllar for the inspiring talk and to the terrific community cooks for the delicious foods.

Check out our website for the statement on the final ruling where the Santa Marta 5 water defenders are found innocent for a second time. Santa Marta community was the massacred by the US backed military dictatorship during El Salvador’s armed conflict and while the perpetrators of those atrocities remain in impunity, the Bukele government has instead insisted on using the courts to politically persecute leaders of the community. The community celebrates the reaffirmation of innocence and warns that this is not the end of political persecution against land defenders and historic communities.
