When we got EP 001 pressed to vinyl we asked for side B to be blank but the record plant pressed this instead of leaving it smooth. Apparently this is the same recording they press on gold records.

Artist, friend and longtime collaborator, Asif Siddiky's thoughts on creating the Sanctuary 2023 album art.

"The group was initially interested in shooting a photograph for the new album art so I sketched a few concepts that evoked the setting of my original cover, but from the outside looking in. At that point, I was just a few weeks from becoming a father so this was the most I could contribute in what remained of my free time.
Over the next seven months it became clear that the original image was the most appropriate choice for a re-recording like this, but I’d unfortunately lost track of the hi-res file somewhere in the last ten years.
Whether it was out of inspiration or stubbornness, repainting the art from scratch felt like the only acceptable outcome for me so I chipped away at it during whatever spare time I could find.
Revisiting this piece after so long offered a unique opportunity to marry my old ideas with my current perspective and, since I primarily worked on this as my daughter took her naps while wedged between my calves, I found myself thinking of this Sanctuary as a place of peace instead of a refuge from something."

Always a sleeper favorite of the band, this track is different from the rest for obvious reasons (the lack of drums and guitars), but also because the first time we ever played it live was at this recording session! It felt great to bring this one to life a little more, filling it out with the 2nd live synth, cymbal bows and swells.

BIG Shoutout to GEORGE. Everybody say it: YOU GO GEORGE. Not only did George record and mix Sanctuary 2023, but he's always been a #1 VIP, starting from Starscream days as the band's original drummer. It's Clara speaking btw, and when I joined the band in 2016, the first songs I learned were from Sanctuary, on which George was the original drummer. Twas the beginning of it all and twis the future. Thanks for being a part of the Shred fam George and making us sound great and making meatball parms after sessions. 🩷
“Void Ripper 2023”
A classic. This song came out easy when we wrote it in our basement practice space over 10 years ago. We thought it was funny to throw a full on 808 trap beat under the uplifting synths and post-rock guitars, but there was NOTHING funny about it. It stuck and we used variations of that formula in many songs since. This version is what happened after playing this song repeatedly over the years (maybe our most performed song?) and letting ourselves make subtle changes to the point of not really know what is actually different. -Nate
