The
Sembradores Program builds upon ILRC’s
existing success by addressing the urgent need for urban forestry workforce
development, environmental resilience, and equitable access to green jobs.
Through this program, we aim to:
Equip underrepresented youth (ages 16-24) with hands-on training in urban forestry, tree planting, and environmental conservations.
Provide paid internships to 15 youth (up to $600; 6 workshops, $100 per workshop)
Facilitate skill-building workshops in collaboration with local experts in chemistry, applied human and environmental sciences, and sustainable land management.
Strengthen community resilience by integrating tree planting, maintenance, and sustainable forestry practices in fire-affected areas.
The Sembradores
Program will engage participants in field-based training, where they will gain
hands-on experience in tree pruning, seeding, and controlled burns under the
mentorship of seasoned professionals. This program will take place in Sonoma County, Santa Rosa, CA.
