Reconfiguring, re-dyeing, ripping and sewing back together again, fermenting, dissolving, melting, digesting. My table of stretched time, space and living beings landed last month at
@alfaia_org for ‘A story told around the fire’ curated by
@david.s.reves and it was beautiful to share fermented soda, bread and butter with new and old friends 🌱
‘Unfurling’ is a piece I’ve exhibited a few times now and it is never the same. The fabrics are re-dyed with whatever plants and pigments I have then, jars filled with whatever needs fermenting, new pieces of dry scoby, soda made of whatever fruit is going, bread and butter made fresh to share. It’s a table with two seats, an invitation to share time with creatures other than ourselves. It sits seemingly still until the exhibition ends but in fact, is brimming with micro-activity, jars bubbling, colours fading. Someone stirs the soda every other day.
The exhibition ‘A story told around the fire’ is on until 11 March
