What started in 2021 as a pop-up at the Indiana Peony Festival is now a cheery shop in Carmel’s Arts & Design District. Disillusioned with her job in commercial interior design, Carmel resident Liz Ford sought a new venture. The answer was right in front of her in the more than 100 houseplants she tended. With a certification as a Hamilton County Master Gardener, Ford opened Ginger Root—the name inspired by her mane of red hair. Click the link in our bio to read more. 📸 @tonyvalainis

For Manuela Pizzi, this year’s launch of her northside restaurant Balena Cucina Italiana seems less like a debut and more like a revival. She grew up at the center of the city’s Italian restaurant scene—specifically in the cozy womb of Ambrosia, the Broad Ripple staple her Italian immigrant grandparents and father, Gino Pizzi, established in 1979. Before settling into its current spot on North College Avenue, Ambrosia was located on Westfield Boulevard in the heart of the village, where the kitchen served up classics like spinach-and-cheese Ravioli Della Mamma and zabaglione for dessert. “My father opened many, many other restaurants during the entire time I was growing up, but Ambrosia was kind of my home base. It was part of my DNA, part of the story of my childhood,” Manuela says. Click the link in our bio to read more. 📸 @tonyvalainis

Bowdie's Chophouse is part of a family of high-end steakhouses with four other locations in cities like Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Saugatuck, Michigan. But the Zionsville branch, which opened a year ago this month, boasts a one-of-a-kind feature. On early weekend mornings while his friends were sleeping in or watching cartoons, Westfield, Indiana, fifth grader Dillon Thieneman opted to sweat alongside his brothers at their high school football workouts. Even at half his brothers' size, Thieneman possessed a level of talent and determination in 2016 that people around him knew would take him far. More than a decade later, the Chicago Bears selected Thieneman, a University of Oregon safety, with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Bears coach Ben Johnson’s post-win locker room chant of, “Never let it rest ’til your good is better and your better is best,” became a rallying cry during the Bears’ 2026 Cinderella season. According to his family and youth coaches, Thieneman has modeled this mantra his whole life. “He got better every year,” Westfield High School coach Jake Gilbert says of Thieneman. “Some kids just get a year older. He got a year better every single year because he put in so much work.” Click the link in our bio to read more. 📸 Photo provided by the Chicago Bears

After the results of yesterday's draft lottery and a year after advancing to Game 7 of the NBA Finals against league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Indiana Pacers closed out their 2025–26 season in a much different fashion, finishing with a 19-63 record—the worst in franchise history. Amid this tragic turnaround, however, there is a sense of hope for the blue and gold heading into the summer months, despite the Pacers missing the playoffs—for only the third time over the past decade. “We’ve been battling injuries. It’s been a tough year, but we appreciate you guys showing up and showing love every game,” said Tyrese Haliburton in a pregame address to fans ahead of the team’s final tipoff of the season at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. “You guys are the best fans in the world. And don’t get used to the Pacers not playing in April, May, and June.” Click the link in our bio to read more. 📸 @_claymaxfield
