A Farewell to Michael Mulligan Michael Mulligan was the first photographer for INDUSTRY DIRECT in South Carolina, and he was instrumental in helping me understand the lay of the land here. At a time when local printers didn’t even know what a comp card was, he not only helped me find a printer, but together we taught that printer exactly what my business needed to move into larger markets like New York and Los Angeles—the layout, the paper quality, the dimensions, and the standards of the industry. We did a memorable shoot on the old Navy base in a huge utility building. I pulled out my pantyhose, dresses, floor-length ponytails, and eyebrows drawn over eyebrows of the models and Michael would look at me and say, “Interesting. I like it. Let’s shoot it.” He trusted the creative process and always encouraged me to push boundaries. Mike, you will be so deeply missed. The images you created—the art you leave behind—ensure that you will never be forgotten. Thank you Mike. Rest well, my friend.
