Introducing @leonard_theosabrata Founder of Indoestri Makerspace, Co-Founder of Brightspot, and one of Indonesia’s most influential creative visionaries as our Braintrust at IdeaFest 2025!
Born in Jakarta and a graduate of Product Design at the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, Leonard leads the Jakarta-based Leonard Theosabrata Design studio, specializing in interior and product design. He co-founded Brightspot, a cultural phenomenon that sparked the rise of Indonesia’s local brand scene, and later launched The Goods Dept, the country’s first successful multi-brand retailer.
His passion for creativity evolved into education and entrepreneurship through the #SelfMade movement and Indoestri Makerspace, empowering makers, innovators, and doers across Indonesia. This journey led him to roles as a government consultant for Jakarta Creative Hub, CEO of Smesco, and Commissioner of Sarinah, where he continues to champion SMEs and the creative economy.
For Leonard, being SelfMade means shaping yourself through your own initiative, acting on your passion and building something truly yours. We can’t wait to see how he’ll bring his perspective and creative drive to IdeaFest 2025!
