The burning of fossil fuels releases 80% of the world’s total carbon, making it the number one driver behind the current climate crisis. Keeping fossil fuels in the ground is the number one solution needed to address climate change today. #PhaseOutNOTPhaseDown #KeepItInTheGround #EndCo2lonialism #IndigenousJustTransition #CircularEconomy
An Indigenous Just Transition (IJT) means respecting and weaving Indigenous knowledge and leadership into the process of creating a sustainable future. IJT recognizes our inherent rights, sovereignty, and assertion of self determination over our ancestral waters, land and territories, and all natural landscapes, inclusive within our own laws, values, customs and traditions. #IndigenousJustTransition

Women and femmes are the backbones of society, nurturing the seeds of our future and fostering strong, healthy, and thriving communities. Under the leadership of women and femmes is when Mother Earth is balanced again. #IndigenousWomenLeadingTheWay #CommunityofCare #IndigenousJustTransition
Indigenous Peoples are not obstacles to climate action, we are its most essential partners. “Without the guarantee of our inherent rights, the transition will be built on extractivism”, “impacting our way of life and the ecosystems we have protected for thousands of years.”

📢🚨IMPORTANT UPDATES ON THE BRIDGE PIPELINE!
The current administration granted a border crossing permit for the Bridger pipeline last week, after developers confirm that tar sands will be transported on the pipeline.
This permit for the Bridger pipeline to enter the so called U.S. came before the public comment period was over.
Water Protectors continue to speak out and fight against this pipeline. We know that this is not only a new iteration of the Keystone XL pipeline, but it’s even bigger than the KXL pipeline proposed.
Water Protectors defeated this before, and we will win again!

The struggle continues ✊🏽
🎉📢 THE EASTERN BAND OF CHEROKEE INDIANS BANNED DATA CENTERS FROM TRIBAL LAND!
The EBCI tribal council unanimously passed an ordinance that established an indefinite ban on data centers within trust and deeded lands for the tribe.
The fight against Hyperscale Data Centers continues! This amazing news is a reminders of what it looks like to practice our sovereignty, and of our responsibility to Mother Earth and the next Generations to come. 🌱
Colonial systems treat Mother Earth the same way they treat Indigenous women, as something to exploit. We’re calling out what needs to be the focus now (agriculture & violence towards women), as we know Indigenous women are the backbone of society, communities and global food sovereignty.

With other aligned groups, JTA continues calling out #falsesolutions and demanding a frontline-led #justtransition that follows #IndigenousJustTransition principles and #justtransition principles! With the First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels now concluded, we look to Bonn, Germany, in June, on the way to #COP31! #justtransitionnow #transicionjustaya

“You want our pictures, not our voices, you want our stories, but not our struggles.” Indigenous delegates delivered a straight forward stance at the International Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels, rejecting tokenism and demanding that true solidarity, not optics become the foundation of any just transition.

Speaking from the frontlines of the climate crisis, Tuvalu’s delegation delivered a sobering message in Santa Marta, Colombia. Small island nations are being left to “swim outside the ark” while powerful countries delay action they already know is necessary.
The time for deliberation has passed, the time to act is now.
