For over two decades of working in the Himalayas, we’ve seen one reality repeat itself across villages: access to healthcare is limited, delayed, and often out of reach.
Doctors and pharmacies are hours away. Health issues are addressed only when they become severe. And many villagers turn to our Trek Leaders for advice, even though they are trained only in wilderness first aid.
This is where Indiahikes Aarogya Seva was born.
Aarogya Seva is a community healthcare initiative where medically qualified trekkers voluntarily extend their stay by a day to conduct health clinics at our base villages. We manage the logistics, awareness, and medicines — they bring their expertise and time.
Since December 20, we’ve already conducted five clinics with pediatricians, dentists, ophthalmologists, and physicians, reaching hundreds of villagers across Lohajung, Karchi, Sari, and nearby regions. The turnout has shown us just how deep the need really is.
This is not a one-time effort. We see Aarogya Seva as a long-term, sustainable programme anchored at our community campuses, with the goal of conducting at least one clinic every month.
Over time, we also hope to extend these clinics to surrounding villages, many of which have even poorer road access and fewer healthcare options than the base villages themselves.
The larger goal is simple. We want to enable regular access to healthcare in regions where this facility is severely lacking. As a single organisation, our reach is limited. But with nearly 35,000 trekkers visiting the mountains with us every year, the collective impact we can create is significant.
➡️ If you are a medical professional trekking with us, you can be part of this. Just comment “Seva” and we’ll send you a form.
➡️ If you’re not, sharing this initiative helps us reach the right people.
Please note: This is a completely voluntary service. There is no exchange of money involved. Even villagers will not be able to pay, but they will deeply value your presence and care.

Give Your Parents the Gift of Feeling Alive Again
Over the years, we've watched seniors return from the mountains looking lighter, standing taller, and talking about their experience for months afterwards. Not because the trek was easy, but because it reminded them what they're still capable of.
Age, it turns out, is rarely the real barrier. Preparation, pacing, and choosing the right trek, that's what actually matters.
Start with something gentle. A jungle trek through Central India, where the walking is easy, and the forests do all the heavy lifting. Then, when the confidence is there, move into the Himalayas. Dayara Bugyal is where many senior trekkers have their first real mountain moment. Ali Bedni and Brahmatal come next for those who want to go deeper.
Go with your parents, or nudge them to go. Either way, don't let another autumn pass without doing something about it.
P.S: We run special dedicated senior treks for the Chhattisgarh Jungle Trek, Kuari Pass, Sandakphu, Valley of Flowers, and Dayara Bugyal. These batches are designed specifically around the pace, safety, and experience of senior trekkers. If that sounds like something for the people you love, take a look.

Peak moments feel different.
It’s that mix of fear and excitement sitting in your stomach when you are about to do something that actually matters. Your mind tells you to stop, to stay safe! But something inside you pushes you to go ahead anyway.
Georgia felt like that.
My first international trip.
Leading the Atsunta Pass trek in a DIY style.
Maybe from the outside it looks like just another trek, but for me it was something deeper. It felt like I was chasing a part of myself that had been quiet for a long time.
Away from comfort, away from routine. Things start to feel real again. You notice more, you feel more, and somewhere in all of that, you meet a version of yourself that doesn’t care about expectations.
Out there, in those mountains and unknown paths, I didn’t feel lost. I felt alive.
Sharing just a few glimpses from countless memories I created there.
Bengaluru is surrounded by hills, yet most trekkers repeatedly visit the same popular trails such as Skandagiri, Savandurga or Nandi Hills. While these are excellent treks, there are many lesser-known routes around the city that offer equally rewarding experiences without the crowds.
We have documented and set of 7 treks in great detail. These are teks you can start early in the morning, complete within a few hours, and return home by afternoon without needing to take leave from work.

We’ve been really lucky to witness skies like this on our treks. 🌌
Whether it’s in the Himalayas, Central India, or the South, nights like these just stay with you. After a long day of walking, when everything slows down and you finally look up, the sky feels completely different out here. 🏕
No city lights, no noise, just a sky full of stars, and sometimes even watching them move through the night. 🌃
Stargazing on a trek isn’t something we plan, but it ends up becoming one of the most memorable parts of the journey.
Grateful for moments like this during leading the treks with @indiahikes & @unexploredindia.ih journeys. ✨

Are you someone who loves having a flowing river beside you while trekking? Then you’re not alone.
At Indiahikes, we were recently discussing how much we enjoy river walks. A river is not just something you walk beside. Over time, you begin to form a connection with it. It almost becomes a reflection of your own journey. And certain treks truly allow you to experience that.
From the crashing waterfalls of the Rupin Pass to the serene, sandy banks of the Gopat River in Chhattisgarh, these paths offer more than just a trail—they offer a rhythmic companion for every step. Whether you want to witness the birth of the Ganga at Gaumukh or walk through the high-altitude deltas of the Chandrabhaga, there is a river story waiting for you.

At Indiahikes, we are always on the look out for new trekking destinations. And even more so for our Indiahikes Trekking Club (InTrek) Members who go about documenting treks every weekend. In February 2026, a team from InTrek Bangalore Chapter went trekking inside Periyar Tiger Reserve.
Periyar Tiger Reserve is one of the rare protected areas in the country that actively promotes trekking. The administration here believe that walking through the forest is a far more intimate way to experience it than a jeep safari. And trekking through this Tiger Reserve is an extraordinary experience.
But very few trekkers actually know that these trails exist. To change that, Indiahikes Trekking Club worked with the Periyar Tiger Reserve Administration to document two of their longest treks:
* Periyar–Brandipara Border Trek
* Thondiyar Forest Trek
In this post, we’re talking about : The Thondiyar Forest Trek
It is an out and out forest trek. But very early into it, you climb to the Edugu Mada Hilltop and witness the magical panorama of hills rolling into the horizon. Once you descend from this hill, the real wilderness begins. From sharp descents through shaded forests to following a stream along meadowy grasslands, you’ll feel the presence of wildlife everywhere. Tiger pugmarks, grazing Gaurs and on lucky days, herds of Asian Elephants. And amidst all of this, you arrive at the edge of the famous backwaters of the Mulleperiyar Dam.
The best part is that it is just an overnight bus ride away from any major city in Southern India. To help you plan this trek on your own, we have published a detailed documentation on our website-- starting point, permit process, travel planning, and even offline GPX file so you never lose your way.
Comment "Lake" and we’ll send the detailed documentation to you right away.
