in january, i was ready to move on from last year. but there’s so much to learn from it still — and i think that’s pretty cool
no sugar in the poi makes everything sweeter. ho’omaika’i to the women of hālau mōhala ‘ilima 💛🏆 #keuakaono
@vvailana words can’t express how proud i am of you. watching you grow throughout this journey has made me love you even more. in many ways, this was a process of witnessing you become who you were always meant to be. you embody the love you have for your ‘āina and kūpuna in everything you do. this couldn’t be truer than when watching you dance — i have never seen something so u’i 💛
mahalo for bringing me along for the ride (no literally, i am her chauffeur)
two papa and one pōhaku to close out the year. tamarind and mango from waimānalo, and pōhaku from wai’anae. it feels good that both sides of my ‘ohana are reflected in this process :)
made a lot of mistakes along the way. but all in all, just happy to learn.
mahalo to @kanewai_hawaii , @hauolaroback , and chainsaw mastah @kalenauka for letting me cruise with you guys this semester. was good fun 💛
Tomorrow marks the end of an era 🤎
Waimānalo Lumber and Milling will be closing its doors after decades of service to the community.
From papa ku’i ‘ai classes with uncle Earl at Hui Mālama, to trainings at Job Corps, to wood shop at Kailua high school, and everything in between — these guys have held it down.
Tomorrow (Thursday 10/16) from 8:30 AM until pau, they will be liquidating most of their stock.
Please see the last slide for more info on what is left in. If you are planning on stopping by please shoot me a DM so I can let aunty ‘Iwa know what you’re looking for.
Mahalo 🤙🏽

🚨 URGENT: DHS IS ATTACKING INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 🚨
The Dept. of Homeland Security is pushing a rule that would cap how long international students can stay in the U.S. This is a direct threat to our classmates, colleagues, and friends—especially PhD students whose studies often take 5+ years.
This rule would gut diversity, weaken academic freedom, and shut doors on students who already face immense risk under this political regime.
✊🏽 We need to show up. Here’s how:
1️⃣ Submit a comment opposing the rule by Sept 29, 2025 → [http://bit.ly/4mvaCnQ]
2️⃣ Sign the petition demanding UH act institutionally → [http://bit.ly/429vQ3o]
International students can’t always safely speak up. That means it’s on US to fight back. Don’t wait—take 15 minutes today.
