đ¤Podcast alert! My podcast âIn Sixteen Years of Endometriosisâ has 2 types of episodes:
1ď¸âŁChats between me and Brittany, 2 best friends that pride ourselves on sharing accurate, well-researched information in a fun, digestible way. Hang out with us while we delve into embarrassing âdid-that-really-just-happen?!â endo stories and talk vulnerably about our personal growth. Some of our favorite episodes are the later ones â we really love how our knowledge, and also we, have grown over time!
2ď¸âŁInterviews with excision surgeons, subject experts, and endo advocates worldwide! Thank you to all of the wonderful people who generously gave their time and knowledge to participate.
đIâm really proud to say that I went through my episodes in 2023 and updated the first 90 episodes to make sure they have accurate info in them!

Let's give some love to these brave souls who shared their knowledge about endo with a stranger in a bar!
I was surprised at how little people know about endometriosis. I knew public awareness was low, but I didnât imagine it was so low. Several people who declined being recorded told me that theyâd never ever heard of the disease.
No wonder why itâs so difficult to be taken seriously and believed when people have never even heard of our disease, in spite of the fact that it incapacitates millions.
And the best part is that this doctor says they are an endometriosis specialist. Prescribing a medication marketed for endometriosis, without ANY discussion of the side effects after being told that the patient had serious, life-threatening thoughts, is a đŠđŠđŠ that you are NOT an endometriosis specialist.
This is a true story I heard on Wednesday from a patient. And I am flabbergasted. Like I know care out there is bad, but this feels like a new low to me.
SOUND ON! đAmy speaks with Jade Walker @byjadewalker about SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth)

[IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Announcing a new episode in my endo podcast called Lesser Talked About Aspects of Endometriosis Surgery with Dr. Lora Liu]
Even though Iâve seen endo devastate my career, fertility, bodily functions, relationships, and more, I still wonder sometimes if I'm making up my pain. That's how deeply medical gaslighting can affect a person.
Even though I've had 3 surgeries for endo, scars on my abdomen, a missing ovary, and a pathology report confirming my disease, I still wonder sometimes if itâs all in my head.
Even though I have a divorce, medical debt, no children, a strict diet (all because of endo).... I still wonder sometimes if itâs as bad as I say it is.
For this self-doubt, I blame all the doctors, loved ones, bosses, teachers, and strangers who told me that I was exaggerating my pain.
I know itâs real, but every once in a while Iâm like, oh jeesh, is this real?!
Do you have moments when you doubt your pain or that what youâre experiencing is real?
Endometriosis is not the endometrium.
Itâs not enough to know that the 2 tissues arenât the same. Itâs vital to understand THEY ACT DIFFERENTLY in the body!
The hormone receptors in endo lesions and their level/activity vary from the endometrium and even among endo lesions within the same person!
Endometriosis doesnât bleed and shed like a period because itâs NOT the endometrium and does NOT act like it.
Endo does NOT respond to hormones in the predictable way that the endometrium does. Endo can still progress on them, and they donât dry up endo.
Endometriosis can have progesterone resistance, meaning that the cells donât respond to progesterone like they normally would.
Medical menopause is to manage SYMPTOMS only. Did you know that endo can make its own estrogen?
Hysterectomy is NOT a definitive treatment for endo, yet many doctors remove the uterus because they are misinformed that endo is from retrograde menstruation.
