a few of you might know (maybe not) that i wrote this song for my sweet cat Otto bot who passed away two years ago today 🐇
i wrote mosttt of “undone” throughout the following couple months after he passed - grieving him and finding new ways to feel all of the big feelings without him being there as a source of grounding and comfort.
he would always sleep right by my head, i think to maybe act as dream catcher of sorts, and if he wasn’t by my head he would be sprawled across by abdomen with his little arm wrapping around to embrace me, soso cuteee
through writing “undone” and nurturing this experience of loss i learned how alive and dynamic grief is. it is consuming, hard to sit in, numbing, and temping to shut out but it is also a reflection of love, impact, and tenderness.
we’re all grieving all the time - grief is the companion of change 🌟 all we can do is continue to find new ways of grounding, connecting, and creating through it all <3
.. . a new one i started writing a bit ago .. . .
thinking of calling it “early mourning” or maybe “we’re here now” .. we’ll seeeee
