NEW DOUBLE INTERVIEW THE PULP ARCHIVES: MARK WEBBER AND PAUL BURGESS ON FILM, BOOKS, PULP AND MORE On the occasion of the two new books on Pulp, Webber's I'm With Pulp, Are You? and Burgess' Hardcore: The Cinematic World of Pulp, Nel Dahl @nelkendahl has authored an ambitious diptych of interviews with two key creative forces behind the band: guitarist and keyboardist, Mark Webber @imwithpulp and their longtime closely associated photographer, Paul Burgess. @mrpaulburgess Webber discusses his decades-long vocation in curating and publishing on experimental cinema, parallel and intertwined with his life as a musician. The conversation includes his first introduction to and explorations of out-there cinema, his essential historical and archival work as a programmer, starting with his famed series at ICA and beyond, and as a publisher with The Visible Press, and much more. @thevisiblepress Burgess's conversation is a deep dive into Pulp as a visual and cinematic entity. The book, I’m with Pulp, Are You? is a visually rich chronicle of the band’s history from the perspective of a fan turned manager turned guitarist. 40 years of archived material come to life on the pages of a unique and highly anticipated music memoir. Mark Webber was born in Chesterfield in 1970. He grew up listening to chart music before discovering David Bowie and The Velvet Underground, and becoming fascinated with Andy Warhol and the counterculture. Having told his school careers officer that he was going to be a pop star (not entirely seriously), Mark began to write fanzines and organise concerts from the age of 15. He has been a member of Pulp since 1995 and appears on the Pulp albums Different Class, This is Hardcore, We Love Life and more. Away from music, Mark has devoted much of his time to curating avant-garde film and has published several books on the subject. Pay on the door options available with the YLF team.
