Cairo is going to do her 3rd dance recital this summer @_raindancestudio and I’m so in my feels. Since she was a year old, she loves watching videos of @michaeladeprince dancing, especially the Freedom video…over and over. We also read about her in her “goodnight stories for rebel girls” book. A couple years ago Michaela liked a video of Cairo dancing and I told Vince if she sticks to dancing, we have to take her to meet Michaela one day. Unfortunately not long after, was her extremely untimely passing. I was truly heartbroken, not just because of Cairos adoration of her, but because of her story, and how she overcame so much tragedy and grief, and still brought so much light to the world, with dance and the work and advocacy she did with war child, she never forgot where she came from and she showed that “different” is still beautiful. May she rest in sweet peace knowing the huge legacy and impact she left behind, especially for this little girl, and so many others, who just want to dance. 🦋🩰✨

@imtheintern , the kids, & My dad, surprised me with a tortoise for my 31st birthday. This was really important and special for so many reasons, that I’m not gonna get into right now, but it’s a very big deal.
So meet my sweet little baby angel (he’s actually 20 years old though)

The dog is named after a rapper, so obviously we had to stay on brand with the tortoise…. Kweli means “truth” so it’s perfect for a wise little tortoise. Apesh is the Egyptian god who has a tortoise head, and y’all know Im a whole entire nerd for Egyptology, so duh. Anyway, these little dudes can live up to 60 years so buckle up for 30 years of Kweli content, friendssss.
