Sunday Afternoon, the second single off of The Get Alongs album Second To None (out June 19) is out today. The band have played two packed shows in the UK and are now headed to the Netherlands to perform @playfestivaleersel Catch them in a city, town, or hamlet near you in the coming months. If you pre-order the album, it will ship with a bone conducting lollipop of their first single ‘Come On,” which is also as catchy as you’d expect a song by then to be. If you want candy from friends, we can make it happen. We’re not strangers.

I’m just going to call it out that we take great pride in making unique format record projects. Our King Gizzard bootleg series has allowed us to make shaped records (paper airplane, buzzsaw, and a bee), records that play forwards and in reverse, records with puzzles, hidden records, food themed records, etc. Well, we have a bunch more in the works. Up next is Face Full of Fuzz/Live in Lithuania ‘25 with artwork by @plasticcrimewave . This record comes with a 12x12 interactive magnetic toy inspired by the 1950s Woolly Willy children’s favourite. In this case, you can give the Lizard Wizard your favourite hairstyles. It was said: Master of Magnetic Mystery Some say he was born in a barber shop. Others claim he drifted in on a beam of cosmic fuzz. All we know is this: The whiskers obey the wand. Pull the stylus from its chamber. Summon the iron hairs. Shape the beard of destiny. Raise the eyebrows of revelation. Witness the face transform. Move the wand beneath the surface and feel the invisible forces awaken. The hairs rise. The character appears. Just Jeffrey lives. Return the wand to its resting place until the next moment of magnetic inspiration. Pre-order from @redeyeworldwide or us. In stores on July 10. #kinggizzardandthelizardwizard #kinggizzard #kinggizz #kinggizzardvinyl #toys

I more or less say this all in video, but for maximum effect: We wanted to try something new in the marketing of Come On, the debut single off of The Get Alongs forthcoming album Second To None. We landed on making a bone conduction lollipop. You may be asking what that means exactly, so I’ll explain it for you. When you put the lollipop into your mouth and suck on it, it sends sound waves through your teeth and jawbone to the inner ear, bypassing the eardrum. The song gets stuck in your head, literally. Perhaps you saw something similar when at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas or baffling Jimmy Fallon. Maybe you have the Ice Spice version too? Well now you can share this experience with a young and upcoming Toronto group. It will be available with purchase of their album both from our web stores and your favourite record stores, and at select shows, including upcoming UK and NL dates. #consumerelectronics #jimmyfallon #icespice #lollipop🍭

Last month, The Get Alongs recorded a direct to tape session at Lacquer Channel. The series, under the direction and vision of acclaimed mastering engineer, Noah Mintz captured songs from the band’s just announced (as in today) new album out on Having Fun in June. Come On, the first single is on all streaming services, and the album is available for pre-order now. This session and filming made possibly by the kind people over @collectivebrew

HFR-019: The Get Alongs - Second To None (LP/CD/Digital - In stores June 19) Toronto’s The Get Alongs return with “Come On,” the first advance single from their upcoming sophomore LP, Second To None, due June 19, 2026, via Having Fun / We Are Busy Bodies. It’s jangly, road-worn guitar rock with a buzz on, pulling from the loose swagger of The Brian Jonestown Massacre and the melodic punch of early Oasis, but grounded firmly in their hometown. The kind of track that feels right at home spilling out onto Queen West after last call, guitars ringing out over the hum of streetcars and whatever’s left of the night. The first single, “Come On,” is being released as a limited-edition lollipop that can only be heard while sucking on it. Through bone conduction, the experience is even stranger—in the best way. The song plays directly inside a user’s head using vibration technology. It works by transmitting audio vibrations through the teeth and jawbone to the inner ear, bypassing the eardrum entirely. That means that the song travels straight through your jaw and into your skull, bypassing the usual distance between listener and sound. Formed in 2017, the four-piece, Harrison Pickernell (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rory Pickernell (lead guitar), Eric Wood (bass), and Tristan Catenacci (drums), have spent the better part of a decade refining a sound that pulls from 60s garage, 70s power pop, and 90s psych without getting stuck in any one lane. Early releases leaned scrappy and instinctive, equal parts surf shimmer and blown-out indie rock. With Second To None, that same DNA is still there, just sharpened. The edges are cleaner, but the intent hits harder, the hooks land heavier, and the band knows exactly when to let things breathe and when to push it just past the point of comfort. HFR-021: Fuses - Sawdust in the Transmission (Vinyl, Digital) Born out of distance, chance, and a deep creative pull, Sawdust in the Transmission is the debut album from Fuses—a transatlantic collaboration between Sweden’s Moa-Linn Rösenlof (Orkan, Spela Död) and Canadian guitarist Craig Fahner (Motorists). What began as a fleeting meeting in Gothenburg in 2024 quickly evolved into daily correspondence, and ultimately, a body of work shaped across oceans. When plans to reunite in New York were derailed by visa complications, the pair turned constraint into catalyst, writing and recording remotely, sending Ableton sessions back and forth, building songs in fragments that slowly fused into something cohesive. Those early exchanges laid the groundwork for an album that feels both intimate and expansive: songs as signals, searching for connection across physical and emotional distance. Recorded at Gothenburg’s historic Nacksving Studios—an anchor of Sweden’s 1970s prog movement, Sawdust in the Transmission captures a rare chemistry. The sessions were as personal as they were productive; the duo completed the album in a week, and married the day after. Sonically, Fuses draw from a shared lineage of 60s folk rock and classic country, channeling the spirit of artists like The Byrds and Fairport Convention, while embracing the emotional directness of Big Star and Jason Molina. The result is a sound that feels timeless yet idiosyncratic—lush vocal harmonies, reverb-soaked pedal steel, and arrangements that drift between restraint and release. At its core, Sawdust in the Transmission is an album about connection—across distance, across language, and across time. It is melancholic but hopeful, grounded yet searching: a record that finds beauty in imperfection and meaning in the spaces between. This project is funded in part by FACTOR, the Government of Canada and Canada’s private radio broadcasters. Ce projet est financé en partie par FACTOR, le gouvernement du Canada et les radiodiffuseurs privés du Canada.
