If you are a superintendent, curriculum director, or literacy leader making program decisions for next school year, this one is for you.
IMSE's Morphology+ has earned ESSA Level 2 "Promising Evidence" certification, evaluated independently by LXD Research.
The headline stat: a 0.62 effect size in listening comprehension on the M-STEP state assessment, the kind of result that holds up under scrutiny.
Here is the bigger picture. IMSE is now the only provider with ESSA-validated research for both foundational reading and morphology instruction, covering grades K–5. Our programs, OG+ and Morphology+, are uniquely designed to include both teacher training and instructional materials, because research only works when teachers are equipped to use it.
When you choose IMSE, you are not picking a single intervention. You are building a complete, evidence-based literacy system for your school.

Districts across the country are investing in curriculum aligned with the Science of Reading. So why aren't literacy outcomes improving as quickly as expected?
IMSE Chief Academic Officer Laura Fischer explores the missing piece: building teacher expertise and aligning systems so evidence-based instruction truly reaches every classroom.
Lasting literacy improvement depends not only on adopting new materials, but on sustained professional learning, coherent systems, and long-term commitment to implementation.

Structured Literacy works for all readers. OG+ was built to prove it.
When EdReports reviewed IMSE's OG+, they didn't just evaluate phonics. They looked at how well the curriculum supports every student in the classroom, including multilingual learners.
OG+ met expectations on Gateway 3 across every grade reviewed, K-2. Reviewers specifically called out multilingual learner scaffolds, differentiation guidance, and family resources in English and Spanish.
That's not an add-on. That's the curriculum.

There’s nothing better than watching reading click in real time ✨
Using FREE resources from IMSE, this 4-year-old: 🔤 segmented each sound 🧩 identified the missing middle vowel 📚 built the word with letter tiles ✨ and blended it all together to read the word independently
Hands-on phonics activities like this build strong decoding skills while keeping learning engaging and meaningful for young readers. These are the moments that remind me why explicit instruction matters so much 🤍
Follow for simple, effective literacy activities grounded in the Science of Reading that actually work in real classrooms ✨

Did you know your IMSE Decodable Readers have coordinating vocabulary slides already waiting for you inside IMSE LAB?
Sari Cohen, Level 4 IMSE Orton-Gillingham Master Instructor, shows us how she uses them with her student. Definitions, concrete representation, syllable counting, synonyms, and more. All coordinating directly with the decodable reader she was using for instruction.
This is the complete system working exactly the way it was designed to.

☀️ I always love the @imse_og Summer Literacy packs!
This year they have release two separate packs: K-2 and 3-5+ (the packs are available in English & Spanish).
💯 Worth saving and printing or sharing with families/guardians. Also great options for in the classroom if you need some additional passages that include specific morphemes!
Sound drill warm-up… but make it interactive 🚗🧽
I used a FREE IMSE resource, slipped it into a sheet protector, added previously taught letters with a dry erase marker, and turned my student into the “teacher! As he gave me each sound, we wiped the car clean one letter at a time before introducing our new concept for the lesson.
Quick activities like this may seem simple, but they pack in so much purposeful review:
✨ strengthen sound-symbol correspondence
✨ build automaticity and confidence
✨ provide cumulative review of previously taught concepts
✨ increase engagement through movement and role reversal
✨ create a low-pressure way to warm up the brain before new learning
Sometimes the most effective drills are the ones that are quick, easy to prep, and fun enough that students don’t even realize how much practice they’re getting!
Save this idea for your next phonics lesson and follow for more quick, low-prep structured literacy activities you can use right away!

When English learners in Troy, Ohio were struggling with foundational reading skills after the pandemic, their district made a decision: train everyone. Every teacher, every interventionist, every paraprofessional, and every principal went through IMSE training in Structured Literacy, 116 staff members in total.
And the results? A student new to the country arriving in fall and speaking English by December, a phonics score jumping 38 points in one semester, and third grade reading proficiency rising from 56% to 81%. This is what Structured Literacy looks like when a district truly commits.

Results! 🤩
It’s hard to believe we are down to 12 days left of school. Our @imse_og Final Benchmark Assessments have been mind-blowing, especially when we look at their Initial Benchmark from the first week of September.
In education, particularly post-pandemic, we’ve had a huge shifts in states passing legislation to require structured literacy practices. As we know, this has been happening at different times in different places, so we can never assume what skills a child has not been taught. With our incoming first grade screener, it was clear that we needed a Tier 1 reset. It was not an intervention problem.
Over-referrals can lead to procedural strain, systemic pressure, and overloaded Special Educatjon staff without enough time in the day. We are so grateful for our partnership with @imse_og so our staff could experience a robust, comprehensive training in structured literacy. Our Tier 1 allows for a strong base for all.
What wins have you seen this year? What questions or thoughts do you have? ⬇️
What does Structured Literacy look like for multilingual learners?
Troy City Schools (@troyohio_city_schools ) serves students who speak more than 30 languages at home. After training 116 staff in IMSE OG+, by the end of kindergarten nearly every student was meeting or exceeding grade-level benchmarks in letter sound fluency.
Spectrum News 1 Ohio (@spectrumnews1oh ) covered their story and we are so proud of every educator who made this possible.
