@imryanrey and I had another sweet evening in @visitrapidcity ! @travelsouthdakota We checked out @pressstart_rapidcitysd … we need to go back here … what a blast from the past…we have a lot more we want to show you and experience here! We absolutely loved meeting Brenna at @retroreimagined_rc … I felt like I stepped back in time and was hanging with mom gram and the whole fam again! We also finally got to go inside @blackhillsvinyl and we bought a very sweet vinyl we will be highlighting on a future For The Record Friday w/ @imryanrey … Ethan was incredibly kind and helpful with all our questions . All 3 of these places and walking around the sweet downtown area was the perfect throwback . I highly recommend these places. Then we ended the evening at Canyon Lake Park @canyonlakeresort … it was so peaceful and a beautiful night for it. Where have we missed … … what is a must do before heading back home to Denver?

Have you ever learned more in a few days somewhere than you did during years in school? Because that’s exactly what happened to me on our current trip in Rapid City. 🖤 @visitrapidcity @travelsouthdakota @crazyhorsememorial @mountrushmorenps @independentalehouse @nationalparkservice @blackhillsbadlands @horatiosicecream @airbnb and more to come 🫶🏼 In just 3 days we’ve explored history, healing, breathtaking views, and places that made me feel connected to the past in a way I didn’t expect. From recreating one of my earliest childhood memories at Dinosaur Park on Mother’s Day… seeing Mount Rushmore and finally getting to see Crazy Horse in person… (that’s the place I learned THE MOST) …this trip has already been unforgettable. I’ll be going into some amazing details in future reels on that specifically. But in the meantime … We still have 4 days left here in Rapid City… where should Ryan @imryanrey and I go next? 👀 Food, hidden gems, scenic drives, weird roadside stops, coffee shops, local experiences… send me everything below ⬇️ And if you’re a local business, stay, restaurant, or experience in the area that would love to collaborate, send me a DM 🫶🏼

What is your very first memory in life? One of mine is seeing a bunch of giant dinosaurs with my family. It’s my first real memory of my mom. I can remember having dreams about this place all the time even into adulthood. I used to ask mom about this trip a lot. My parents gram brother sister and I all got in a van and we went from the tippy top of upstate New York where we are from and drove out west for all sorts of adventures. One of our big stops was in Rapid City…. I was 3 years old. Yesterday my husband Ryan was assigned to work here and it just so happened to land on Mother’s Day. My mom Rose passed away in 2020 so this day since then always has a lot of feelings. I couldn’t think of a better way for me to spend it than to come to this place from my dreams from 36 years ago! It was fun, emotional, and such a treat to do this with my husband @imryanrey …my best friend who I’ve been with for 20 years now… in fact our wedding anniversary is this month! I feel mom (and gram) smiling down on us for this one! Also highly recommend looking into all the history behind this place and the community itself! Built in 1936 Dinosaur Park … so it’s also funny that it was 36 years ago that we came here what another amazing coincidence…1990 was also the year the dinosaurs at Dinosaur Park were placed on the National Register of Historic Places! Where should we go next in Rapid City this week ? @travelsouthdakota @visitrapidcity @rushmorehotel @hotelalexjohnson @tallyssilverspoon @delmonicogrill @imryanrey @robideaubrian @nationalparkservice ps shout out to Smokey The Bear 🐻!

What another awesome @yelpcolorado YELP ELITE event this one being Rowing and Refreshments at @rowhouseofficial @rowhousekencaryl ! Thanks to Matt @mattyc_denver and the team as always for putting this together ! @imryanrey and I @crystalrosereynolds had never tried a rowing class so this was such a cool way to try. I loved that you can really make it what you want it to be. I pushed myself, but also had a lot of fun while doing it. I appreciated the kind staff (not pictured Saint Ryan) who was also so amazing. You can tell everyone here really loves what they do. They were so kind and welcoming and great at explaining how to do the workouts. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great workout, but also a fun and kind community! Shout out to @mobile.hydration and @like.water.massage who shared their amazing services as well! Super friendly and just a great way to start our Sunday!

A lot of people know I walk everywhere here in Denver…trains, streets, all of it, but my love for moving started long before that. When I was a kid, my grandma and I used to walk everywhere together. Later, that turned into late-night walks with family and friends, just exploring. That love of being outside eventually led me into track and cross country in school. I was never the fastest, but I always loved the peace of running and walking outside. As an adult, I started running again with my sister Lisa. We trained together, ran races, and I even completed a half marathon with her. But I haven’t properly run since before the pandemic. Life since 2020 has been full of rebuilding…health struggles, loss, grief, career shifts, financial changes, selling everything to live in an RV, traveling the country, and eventually finding our way back to Denver. This year, I’ve been focusing on healing and letting go of what no longer serves me. And part of that is a “before 40” reset for myself. So I’m officially starting to run again…and training for my first race before I turn 40 on December 11. Right now, I don’t even have proper running shoes. The ones I’ve been wearing actually have a hole in them (found that out running to the train yesterday 😅). I’m building this from the ground up. If anyone has advice, gear recommendations, or believes in this journey…I’m open. And if there are any ethical running or activewear brands that want to connect, I’d love to share this process. Here’s to 39 and change… and onto 40! Please share your thoughts in the comments , but please be KIND!

Lately i’ve been in my “throw something together but still make it good” era and this zesty hawaiian crunch kit has been coming through. I paired it with some salmon + rice and it just made the whole meal feel more put together without extra effort. it’s fresh, crunchy, has actual flavor (which matters) and it’s such an easy way to add something a little healthier when you don’t feel like overthinking it. definitely been on repeat for my quick meals lately. now show me yours 👀 how are you #ExpressYourself with it? @yourfreshexpresssalad @apexdropofficial #FreshExpress #YourFreshExpressSalad #ExpressYourself

Thank you @primtheagency for the invite to this really fun Grand Opening in Castle Rock for @starbirdchicken ! @imryanrey and I @crystalrosereynolds had a fun time running into old friends and connecting with some people IRL like @south_denver_strong ! It’s very clear that @starbirdchicken cares about its community! They had everything from a live DJ and balloons to a clown/balloon artist for the kids, plus local spirit with Douglas County High School cheerleaders and the Castle View high school band. It really felt like the whole community came out to celebrate 🙌 Now let’s talk about the food 👀 We tried the chicken tenders and they were SO good…perfectly crispy, fresh (never frozen), and hand-breaded in small batches with their signature gluten-free flour and spices. What made this extra special for us: ✨ They’re gluten-free (huge win for my allergy) ✨ They’re not made with corn (which works for Ryan!) Finding food that fits both of our needs isn’t easy, so this was a big deal. They also offer a ton of variety…tenders, nuggets, wings, sandwiches, and salads made with hand-chopped greens and house-made dressings. And don’t skip the sauces… they make 10 in-house daily 🤯 They also had an ice cream sandwich and things like Brussel sprouts that are tasty and another thing we love is the soda does not have corn syrup and neither did the lemonade ! More wins ! Some fun facts…Starbird actually started in the Bay Area and this Castle Rock spot is their second Colorado location (with more coming soon 👀). They’re all about high-quality ingredients, chef-driven recipes, and making fast food feel elevated and intentional. Beyond the food, what stood out most is how much they support the community and give back…you can really feel that in how they showed up for this event 💛 Such a fun night and definitely worth checking out if you’re local! @starbirdchicken #GrandOpening #CastleRock #CommunityMatters
