Catching Impulse Bangs again reminded me why they stick with you. Their sound feels like something straight out of an indie movie, relaxed walks, summer memories, and those quiet moments that turn into something bigger. They balance heavy distortion with clean guitars really well, letting the songs breathe while still giving you moments that make you want to nod your head along.
The vocals stay airy and intentional rather than aggressive, and the band locks into a groove that feels effortless. It’s the kind of music that could soundtrack a montage, whether it’s a summer vacation or those small moments that end up meaning a lot later. Their recordings are clean, clear, and well mixed, and the band themselves are genuinely great people to talk to off stage too. I previously covered them at Gold Diggers alongside Memory Milk and Shimmer Bed, and it was great catching them again.

You show up at 7:30 after a quick pregame and buy your ticket at the door. $10 for 5 bands seems like a steal after the $300 concert you went to last week. You see all kinds of underground music (grunge, punk, alternative, metal), drink a beverage or two, and are having a night to remember… so far… The show ends and look at the time. It’s only 11:30.
