This apprenticeship year:
- I got to live, work, play, and dream with Kristin
- The Last Caravan was nominated for Best Game and Product of the Year at the ENnie Awards
- I got all the important info on labubus from my elementary school music students
- I finished draft 1 of a musical I’ve been working on for four years
- I biked several hundred miles (not in a row)
- I spent wonderful time with family in Kenya, the kelp forests of la Jolla cove, and perhaps most beautiful, my uncle Ben's house.
- voted for Zohran Mamdani twice, to great effect
- I wrote a novel and a half. Not terribly jazzed tbh.
- I did numerous mysterious projects with @mia_fowler1 and one ins(p)ectacular one with @knitzyk
- I commissioned the coolest alien art yet — I think it’s the crab but there are options
- I got mildly competent at graphic design, layout, ad campaign management, low-level video-game development, and probably another thing I’m forgetting
- let's do another one
I am still reeling from the nomination announcement. THE LAST CARAVAN has been nominated for two Ennie awards -- Best Game and Product of the Year. I had harbored some hopes for clinching a minor nomination for something -- maybe our incredible cover or @darkplanedm 's fantastic layout. These nominations are way more than I anticipated.
THE LAST CARAVAN started from a very personal place -- a reflection on winter road trips, on America itself, on our place in the universe, and on our capacity to build hybrid futures out of a catastrophic present. Since then, it's become more about the players -- about the lightning in a bottle experience of people becoming a family at the table and taking on the complex histories that that entails.
The @mythworkshq glow is a real phenomenon -- this company is bringing together amazing games, and I'm grateful to be in their company. Congrats to all the nominees!
I'm developing a new game! In Pantheon, you'll play as young gods in a primordial world, discovering yourself and strange beautiful lands, developing generational kinships with mortals, and creating a legacy that will last for all eternity. This is an alpha playtest -- a very early version of the game -- but I've released a fully playable Playtest on itch.io! Go check it out!
Cover is by the incredible @lockettillustrated , an absolute master of mythic art! And always with lots of help from @darkplanedm with layout and design consultation!
