On January 22nd, @bornertorun and I welcomed a sweet baby girl, Sophie Borner Gale, into the world. The three of us made it home just in time to bundle up for the biggest snowstorm of her life.
Sophie’s older brother Jonah has been a great sport, sharing his affection (and cold) swiftly upon her arrival. We feel so lucky to have Sophie in our lives.
Today is Jonah’s 1st Birthday! The past year as his parent has been the most rewarding of my life. @bornertorun has shown him such patient love and care through serious sleep deprivation, and I am very grateful to raise him alongside her, our families, and our friends. Becoming a father has brought into focus all of the quiet, routine ways my parents were there for me when I was a child, day in and day out, and their parents before them. There’s something very beautiful to me about those sacrifices, big and small, and I look forward to many more, especially if it means spending more time with a kid as sweet as Jonah.
As we approach Giving Tuesday, we reflect on the impact collective efforts can make in supporting the community. EVCC works behind the scenes to support our community fridges, neighborhood distros, coat drives, or whatever else our neighbors need.
We need your help this Giving Tuesday! Please support our work by donating, any amount is helpful! Link in bio.
On March 17th, @bornertorun and I welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Jonah Cooper Gale. He has been a great source of love and joy, and we are very lucky to be his parents.
Very grateful to have @bornertorun in my life, and glad she's taken the bait and has decided to stick around. I proposed by placing her great grandmother's ring in the center of a raspberry and chocolate chip heart on top of a homemade pancake, but the end result was so unclear and burnt that I refuse to include it in this photo gallery. Thankfully, Meredith saw past the rough edges of my presentation, as she does with my other wide-ranging and various flaws, said yes, and ate around the charred parts.
Perhaps there's some metaphor to be had there about how life isn't always smooth and people aren't always perfect, or perhaps I should learn how to cook not burnt pancakes.
Regardless, feeling very fortunate to have begun building a life with someone so kind-hearted, empathetic, and extremely easy to read, even if it means seeing her involuntarily cringe at what once was a pancake.
some more birthday pics (which was almost two months ago but posting is not my forte) from @ashton.gooding .
