Sometimes you have to think outside the box to preserve the integrity of what is inside it, and for us, that means protecting the bird in our logo by building systems that actually allow it to fly. We were honored to welcome Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman to Impact this week at our invitation to see the work in action. There is a powerful irony in a District Attorney, someone charged with prosecution and public safety, stepping into a treatment environment and recognizing that safer communities are often built by taking thoughtful chances on the right individuals. Drug Court represents that balance. It is structured, accountable, and rooted in clear expectations, while offering an alternative path that creates real opportunity for change. As the first Drug Court provider in California in 1994, we have remained committed to this model for decades and will continue into the future, working alongside the courts, law enforcement, and our community partners. This “carrot and stick” approach is not just philosophy. It is a proven framework that combines accountability with opportunity, and it requires strong, thoughtful policy to sustain and expand its impact across systems. What we shared was not theory. It was the lived reality of individuals doing the work, being held accountable, and rebuilding their lives through structure, education, and connection. Thank you, Mr. Hochman, for believing in our mission and for your commitment to policies that support this balance. Together, we are helping individuals become productive members of society, living a program of recovery grounded in the 12 Steps while strengthening public safety in a meaningful and lasting way.

Dialogue prompts understanding. Understanding prompts collaboration. Collaboration promotes change. Impact is grateful to the Pasadena Police Department for the continuation of our Impact Alliance Program. During this round of orientation, Impact got to welcome Officer Laiza Robertson and Cpl. Veronica Burns for a full day of experience through the eyes of Impact's staff and our patients. Conversations between law-enforcement and our staff, education on the work that Impact does for our previously incarcerated population, and dialogue between police and addicts in recovery is all on the agenda. What plays out is a transformative day of stigma reduction and another step on the journey towards real change in the community. Thank you to Officer Robertson, Cpl. Burns, and Chief Harris for their support of the mission of Impact.

This is a time of year to celebrate change. Change is something that is built into the walls of Impact. The change that comes from a journey through the 12-steps includes honesty, bravery, and perseverance. To recognize this journey for the men and women in our care this Easter, we are asking you to help them celebrate this season of change. Copy and paste the link below to purchase an item which will fill an Easter basket for one of our patients: /hz/wishlist/ls/Q2I5M8F1QR5R Or, copy and paste this link in order to make a donation which will go towards our Easter Fund: /aa5u8x9d

With gratitude and the mission in our hearts, we are proud to announce that Impact has, once again, been conditionally awarded the State of California’s Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP) funding. As the recipients of an award of over $5 million dollars, Impact will be able to construct a new facility and establish a beacon of hope in a community that is just starting to rebuild. The Impact Altadena House for Women with Children will bridge the gap in care for a population for which there are not enough options for this kind of help. Our deepest thanks to the Department of Healthcare Services, the Advocates for Human Potential, and the countless voices that have helped to amplify the work that we do here. We look forward to all that is to come. #BHCIP #CaliforniaHealth

Today, I had the privilege of speaking to a group of men at @impacttreatmentprograms These men are in the arena—doing the hard, internal work of overcoming addiction and criminality to become the leaders their families and communities need. Standing in front of them, I was hit with a profound sense of perspective. Seeing them at the beginning of their journey was a vivid reminder of where I once was. It’s easy to get caught up in the "high-level" world of consulting and coaching, but today reminded me that the most important leadership battle is the one we fight within ourselves. I was reminded of the power of gratitude for the "little" things. We often take the basics for granted until they are stripped away. Seeing the hunger for change in their eyes re-centered me on what really matters. A huge thank you to @eckharttolle and @eckharttollefoundation for the book donation. Your work has been transformative in my own life, and I know providing these copies to these men will be a catalyst for their own awakening and growth. To the men at Impact: thank you for your vulnerability and your fire. Keep battling. The world needs the men you are becoming. #Leadership #HowToBattle #Gratitude

Yesterday at the Impact 5K: Dash Thru the 80s something special happened. More than 500 people showed up to a park not just to run, walk, or dress in neon and laugh together… but to stand for something bigger than themselves. You showed up for hope. You showed up for recovery. You showed up for the men and women fighting every day to rebuild their lives. To @repjudychu , thank you for recognizing Impact’s work and for standing with our community. Your support reminds our clients that their recovery matters far beyond just our doors. To @meganholiday thank you for bringing your voice, your heart, and your energy to this mission. You helped share a message that recovery is real and that no one has to walk this road alone. To The Skinny Ties, thank you for making sure that anyone that wasn't running was busy dancing. And a huge thank you to the @pasadenapd and @pasadenafd for helping to keep us and our amazing community protected. To every runner, volunteer, sponsor, staff member, and supporter: You didn’t just participate in a 5K. You helped create a real moment in the lives of people who need to know that help exists, that community exists, and that their future is worth fighting for. Yesterday was a reminder that when a community comes together, hope gets louder. From all of us at Impact... ...thank you for helping us elevate hope and change lives. (Photos by @victorcurtisphoto )

What started as a simple run to support men and women in recovery has grown into something bigger than we imagined. Your support, your energy, and your willingness to show up for this community made this possible. To everyone who registered, thank you for being part of this movement and for helping us send a clear message that recovery is real and the support for it is strong. And to those who hoped to join, we are sorry we could not fit everyone in this year. We truly hope to see you at the starting line next time. See you on race day. Let’s make it unforgettable.
