For her personal project, Immerse Medicine participant Danika tackled leukodystrophies - exploring how the NHS could one day bring advanced gene, protein, and mitochondrial therapies into mainstream care, and proposing a set of future-facing treatment concepts. As she reflected: “Research isn’t just about data or biology - it’s about empathy, imagination, and the belief that even when a cure doesn’t exist yet, we can still take the first steps towards one.”
