We hope that we have done these young people and their project justice in explaining the profound impact they are already having, not only on us as a company, but on the audiences who have encountered their work, and the wider communities who soon will. Their project empowers others to feel they too have the understanding, courage, and ability to create change. That is why we are nominating this group.
The power of youth‑led creative projects is at the heart of this nomination. These young people have shown a remarkable ability to tell stories with empathy, responsibility, and bravery.
They have opened upconversations around a topic that is deeply sensitive, often isolating, and rarely explored with such honesty. Their willingness to hold these stories, and to hold them with care, demonstrates maturity far beyond their years.
While we hope this work contributes to wider, long‑term change within our communities, it is the smaller, grassroots impact that feels most meaningful: young people building community with one another; creating spaces where they feel they truly belong; other young people witnessing what is possible through the arts; and the message becoming clear that young people can change narratives, shift conversations, and lead the way.
This group is living proof of what happens when young people are trusted, supported, and given space to use their voices. Their creativity, their compassion, and their commitment to social change are exactly why they deserve to win the Community, Ambition and Innovation Award.

“We don’t do it for recognition”🙌
What a fantastic evening at the Love Hackney Awards!
Our participation manager Charmain, and volunteer, Joel, both walked away with awards🏆
Charmain won the Mayor’s Lifetime Achievement Award and Joel won volunteer of the year!
The whole event really encompassed the spirit of Hackney, community, love, and good vibes.
Congratulations to all those shortlisted and those who won awards.
A massive shout-out to Cameron G. who won 2 awards for rallying his community to raise money for school uniforms for those a little less fortunate. Congratulations and well done🎉👏
As Charmain said, we really “don’t do it for recognition”, but for the people we work with and our wider community.
Congratulations to every single person in that room, and everyone who might not have been present, but still plug away in the background, making things happen!
You make Hackney what it is💙
Thank you 🙏

Clement was nominated for the Young Explorer Award as he has actively developed connections with peers both within and beyond his immediate theatre group.
He engaged with other theatre groups, adapting to new creative environments and collaborating with unfamiliar individuals.
Through these experiences, Clement has strengthened his communication skills and demonstrated a supportive, encouraging presence that positively influenced those around him.

Max was nominated for the Outstanding Volunteer Award because she chose to use her time away from her studies to give back through volunteering.
This decision reflects her commitment to the arts, her belief in their power, and her dedication to personal growth.
Max has given her time, energy, and creativity to support young people who share her passion for drama. She has used her knowledge and lived experience to create meaningful change, not only in the lives of the young people she supports, but also within herself.
Her journey, resilience, and contribution deserve to be celebrated and recognised.

We nominated Kayden for the Positive Choice & Achievement Award because he consistently shown improvement in his own life through positive choices. Since joining our programme, he has successfully transitioned from PRU back into mainstream education and is thriving.
He uses our sessions to create meaningful work, develop essential soft skills, and build healthy relationships.
Kayden has achieved far beyond what he once expected of himself, and his journey is a powerful example of how commitment, support, and self-belief can lead to real, lasting change.
