I had a well needed week off from performing and being on the road. I spent time reminding myself of how much I enjoy cooking and how important it is too have a hobby in the midst of building/ maintaining an artistic career.

Found this video of me improving and it reminded me of how powerful having the ability to improv could be.
As a teen I hated improv
In college I began to warm up to it more as I learned new movement vocabulary and felt the empowerment of my embedded Afrocentric esthetic
For so long I never considered myself as a Choreographer because of I never felt called to truly set full on work but the improv was THERE
Now as a professional artist I've honed in to what it means to center improvisation in and out of my practice
Each move may not be set
But I know my costume
I know my music
I know how to work the crowd
And I know how to allow myself to transcend into an unexplainable world 🌎
