NYE AT IMAGINARY WINES
Slow Knife will be playing in the shop tomorrow (NYE) from 3pm - 5pm. Expect dreamy, ambient jams of harmonium, saxophone, synth and guitar.
A perfect accompaniment to that final glass of fizz. Should be fun!!
Friends, Imaginary Wines in its current form on Water Street will close at the end of the year, the last day being 31st December. Look out for events between now and then.
See you at the bar.

We are delighted to announce 'Returnings', an exhibition of an ongoing photographic series by Lāsma Poiša.
The series documents Poiša’s visits to her country of birth Latvia from 2021 to now, examining what it means to both belong to a place and feel distanced from it. It explores themes of loneliness, childhood and adolescence, and our relationship to nature and to home, through a formal language that is by turns playful, melancholy, and contemplative. It questions the role of national identity in our sense of self, and how landscapes and cultural rituals both shape and live on in our psyches.
The exhibition features 22 photographic prints alongside texts by the artist, and all prints are available for purchase.
Born in Latvia, Lāsma Poiša is a photographer and educator who lives in Calderdale. She works at the University of Salford, and her most recent exhibition ‘I Became a Mother’ was held at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery in March-May 2024.
FREE SUNDAY AFTERNOON GIG
3rd NOVEMBER
Anne-Marie Sanderson is a singer-songwriter based in Cumbria. Her most recent album, Old Light, touches on themes of nature, growth and ancestral wisdom. We are delighted to have her join us for a lovely Sunday afternoon performance.
Shop will be serving wine from 3pm and the music will start at 4. Hope to see some of you there. Come and get cosy.
@annemariesanderson
We opened a restaurant in Imaginary Wines again this weekend for the first time since the @ambxr_kxlly collab last December. Thanks to everyone who came and shared food, wine and non-alcoholic bevs; it was great craic.
Massive thanks to Tom, who produced some outrageously delicious plates and had the Pointer Sisters blaring out from the kitchen speaker. If you missed this one don’t be sad, we have already pencilled another one in for before Christmas…details to follow shortly.
DINING POP-UP HAPPENING
Next weekend 18th - 19th we are joined in the shop by @beestonscatering for the next in our dining series.
Expect a classic small plates menu with big flavours, alongside the usual selection of excellent wine (maybe some beer too). Tom and I met whilst working together at Ynyshir Restaurant and Rooms in Wales and we are delighted that we finally have the opportunity to bring him to Todmorden. He brings with him bags of experience at the very sharp end of the UK dining scene.
Tables available Friday 18th 5pm-9pm, and Saturday 19th 12pm-8:30pm.
Booking is advised, DM or come into the shop to reserve a spot. This is not to be missed…
A special gig coming up in the shop next week, don’t miss this one!
@blackacornuk presents P.G. Six, a prolific multi-instrumentalist from New York playing sparse experimental psych-folk “that touches on themes of love, life and loneliness” (Silent Radio).
His most recent release Murmurs & Whispers from 2023 is centred around harp compositions alongside guitar, keyboards, recorder and hurdy-gurdy.
Donations for the artist welcome. Hope to see you there!
This week and next week are the last chance to see the @themrgordo@zineswap exhibition here at the shop. Snapshot of some content in the slides – come by for a read, and maybe even a wine…
