‘In the middle of the night, a spectre of avarice and consumption visits an unsuspecting home.’
Created by Jacqui Whitehorn and Nat Alderton, ‘Lunch Time Waits For No One’ was shot as part of a university assignment… in one night.
The mysterious, looming creature in the film, the ‘lunchtime demon’ more affectionately known as ‘Graham Meat’, was created by Jacqui Whitehorn and Nat Alderton. He is an almost 7ft tall puppet, hand crafted to be unsettling, disturbing and just generally unpleasant to the senses. As it raids one’s home to eat any and all mass produced food it can find, its human eyes and malformed teeth undermine the inherent silliness of a big red puppet.
Composition for the short film was made by Robyn Hughes-Maclean, with the intention of capturing the creepiness and looming presence of the puppet, whilst hinting at the sinister relationship with food the ‘creature’ represents.
