Whether it’s a family heirloom, a vintage find, or a preloved dress, customising a dress allows you to transform it into yours while reducing waste. From reshaping the silhouette and adding embellishments to modifying sleeves or changing fabrics, there are endless ways to make it your own. By choosing alterations over buying new, you can save money but also contribute to a more eco friendly wedding without compromising on individuality. ❤️
Creating a romantic silhouette for Shakira was a beautiful journey from her vision to reality. It began with sourcing the finest ivory tulle—delicate and soft. This tulle was sent to one of only a few places in New Zealand that still pleats fabric, a rare craft that brought dimension and softness to the gown. Each pleat was then meticulously hand-stitched to a boned bodice. The final touch—a thoughtfully designed sleeve, transformed the look from simply elegant to undeniably romantic and ethereal.
I truly enjoyed working with @shakiracomer_ and bringing her dream to life. When someone shares their vision with me, I can’t help but get excited with the possibilities of how to make it happen.
There’s something so special about giving a dress a second life.
Our beautiful bride @katierance_ came with a pre-loved gown that had stunning details, but the fit and neckline just weren’t quite her. Together, we reimagined the design transforming a generous cowl neckline into a clean, modern boatneck that framed her perfectly.
To elevate the look, we added delicate bias cut bows at the shoulders with long flowing tails, creating a soft yet dramatic moment from the back 🤍
This is your reminder that the right alterations don’t just change a dress they make it yours.

Such a special moment having two brides trust me with their gowns. Intricate bridal alterations and final perfect fitting touches refine a dress so it feels like it was made just for you. A perfectly tailored finish. #bridalalterations #bridalseamstress #perfectfit
Each pleat pinned into place and delicately stitched together to create the softest, most romantic vision for our bride @shakiracomer_ I’d love to chat about how to bring your dream dress to life. I currently have two, made to measure spaces left for 2026. Let’s create something unforgettable together ❤️
Designing and sewing this set of bridesmaid dresses that celebrated all feminine forms—including a radiant pregnant bridesmaid—required thoughtful skill. Flowing fabrics, adjustable elements, and flattering silhouettes ensured each bridesmaid was comfortable and felt beautiful on the day. With coordinated colors and subtle variations in cut to accommodate different body types, each dress is uniquely tailored while maintaining a cohesive look. I chose a deep green satin that was in line with the wedding location and theme. What an honour to be part of such a special day. @rachpalmerr

It’s always a good idea to keep a sewing kit handy on the wedding day—just in case things get a little wild. You never know when a little too much fun might cause a button to pop or a hem to come undone!
When altering an existing wedding dress, it’s crucial to ensure that the changes are seamless and don’t disrupt the overall flow of the design. The goal is to personalise the dress while maintaining its original elegance. For @lateshahearth dress, I carefully sourced beading and embroidery similar to that on the bodice and added it down the back, drawing the eye downwards towards the coloured floral embroidery added within the layers of tulle at the hem. This kept the integrity of the dress intact whilst making the dress uniquely Latesha’s and not sacrificing its original beauty.
This gorgeous bride @lateshahearth looked to personalize and transform an existing wedding dress by infusing her own unique style. By introducing subtle yet striking colors through embroidered flowers, each flower was carefully placed amongst delicate layers of tulle and hand stitched, creating a stunning, custom look. This thoughtful addition not only enhanced the gown but also reflected the bride’s individuality, making it a one-of-a-kind creation that perfectly captured her vision for her special day.
