Ilse Vlastuin - Illustrator & Art teacher

Hi there! I got really inspired by seeing a lot of #marchmeetthemaker posts and because I got some extra followers this moth I thought it would be nice to tell you a bit about myself! ☀️ . My name is Ilse. I’m 24 I've got a passion for the woods, fairytales with magic and stories about far away cultures. Drawing gives me the feeling that everything is possible. My favourite past time is sitting in a cozy corner with my iPad in one hand and a big cup of green tea in the other. (I’m a real tea enthusiast🍵) . After my education focused on graphic design and illustration I've started working as a freelance illustrator. This wasn’t great timing because of COVID but now I’ve quit my part time job in the last months and put all my energy and love into making art again I hope that opening my Etsy store will be the next step up in my creative journey. . Besides that I finally got the chance last year to teach Digital art classes in Leiden, The Netherlands! I love teaching others about my passion and supporting other creatives. It’s honestly the best part of my week. . I don’t have a lot of followers but I want to thank each and everyone of you for following along with me on this crazy and creative adventure! . Thank you for reading this far. Voor de liefhebbers die in juni-juli nog een interessante korte cursus of workshop willen doen, heeft ARS een compact programma georganiseerd. Zeven activiteiten van twee à vier bijeenkomsten. Dan kunnen we je hopelijk blij maken, want met ingang van donderdag 21 mei geeft docent Ilse Vlastuin een korte cursus met overzichtelijke en handige methodes om het menselijk lichaam te tekenen. Tijdens de cursus ga ja in op het herkennen van proporties en verhoudingen. Je krijgt duidelijke uitleg met voorbeeld afbeeldingen, praktijkoefeningen en krijgt persoonlijke feedback op je werk. Zo begrijp je beter wat je tekent en waarom. Ben je op zoek naar methodes om in korte tijd beter te worden in mensen tekenen, dan is deze cursus iets voor jou. Afgelopen weekend dook ik voor het eerst in de wereld van Riso printen bij de gloednieuwe Riso POP workshop in Amsterdam! 🖨️ Met een échte Japanse Risograph printer en die prachtige, felle kleuren maakte ik mijn eigen ansichtkaarten en ik ben zó blij met het resultaat! 😍🩷🩵💛 De sfeer was inspirerend, het team super behulpzaam (nogmaals bedankt Aafke en het @riso_pop team!) en de techniek verslavend leuk. Last weekend I got to dive into the world of Riso printing for the very first time at the brand new Riso POP workshop in Amsterdam! 🖨️ With a real Japanese Risograph printer and those gorgeous, vibrant colors, I made my own postcards — and I’m so happy with how they turned out! 😍🩷🩵💛 The atmosphere was inspiring, the team super helpful (special thanks to Aafke and the @riso_pop crew!), and the technique is honestly addictive. (English below) 🇳🇱 Afgelopen weekend ben ik naar de Rembrandtdagen geweest! Zo kon ik de hele dag oefenen met tekenen vanuit observatie – gewoon midden op straat, tussen alle prachtige kostuums en acteurs in kostuum. Dat viel in de smaak bij zes jonge acteurs die spontaan voor me wilde poseren, echt superlief. Iedereen liep er zó goed verkleed bij dat het net leek alsof je een paar eeuwen terug in de tijd stapte. Volgend jaar ga ik zeker weer! ———— 🇬🇧 Last weekend I went to the Rembrandt Days! I spent the whole day practicing observational drawing – right there on the street, surrounded by amazing costumes and actors in character. Six young performers even offered to pose for me on the spot, which was incredibly sweet. Everyone was dressed up so well, it honestly felt like stepping back in time a few centuries.
